00:00Here's the deal. Yesterday, Adam Schefter and Diana Rossini reported that the Houston Texans

00:06are sending a 2026 7th round pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars for wide receiver Christian

00:14Kirk. It's not that I want Christian Kirk, but we need to look at the Texans as a model of what the

00:20Patriots should be doing with people who are about to be free agents. Because reports come out that

00:26guys are going to get cut. And right before they get cut now, the Texans have done this not once,

00:30but twice. They did it last year with Joe Mixon. They did it this year with Christian Kirk.

00:35They send over a meaningless draft pick, an absolutely meaningless draft pick in order to

00:40just get the rights to negotiate with the guy alone and not with 31 other teams trying to

00:47sign him. And so that's the big thing that the Patriots need to do. If you want a guy

00:51like Cooper Cup, or if you wanted a guy like Christian Kirk, or the Jaguars are about to

00:56release Evan Ingram, their tight end. If you want a guy like Evan Ingram to come in,

00:59just trade like a sixth or seventh round pick. That doesn't matter. It has no bearing on the

01:05future of your organization. And then you have exclusive opportunity to sign this guy to a new

01:11contract. And it allows you to secure players and bring them in. And then you don't have to worry

01:16about where they want to go because you're not competing with anybody else. They're already

01:19in the building. Well, I even take it then a little bit of a step further as they want to

01:23try to put pieces or because they also did it last year with Steph Diggs. Do you want to put

01:27pieces around your young quarterback? I mean, if you're the, but even with a guy like Harold Landry,

01:34who is reportedly looking for a trainer, Jonathan Allen in Washington, defensive players, right?

01:38Like this is what you should be doing. Trade meaningless, useless picks in the sixth and

01:43seventh round, right? Get exclusive access to these players that are now already in your building,

01:48sign them new contracts and boom, they're Patriots for years. Like it's, it's that simple.
