00:57Greetings on this historic occasion to our friends in Micronesia.

01:01For many years, a very special relationship has existed between the United States

01:06and the people of the Trust Territory.

01:09We've come to know and respect you as members of our American family.

01:14And now, as happens to all families, members grow up and leave home.

01:21At approximately 29 years ago, Uncle Sam started knocking on our front doors

01:26to enlist hundreds of islanders to join the military.

01:31Some of us enlist just to get off the island.

01:35Most of us join in the cause of freedom,

01:38a belief so strong they are willing to give their lives in its defense.

01:43We are Cushine, and we are proud to be your soldiers.

01:47Our economy is very small, and so a lot of people are living in the thousands.

01:59At the end of the day, I am fighting for my brothers.

02:05I hope this heals us both.

02:09Having your kids going out there, the whole family, the whole island will be affected.
