Well, it's great news that East Lindsay District Council are pulling out of the nuclear waste
00:10
project, the nuclear dump. They're not going to take part in it anymore. That's terrific
00:14
news. But what we want is for them to stand with the residents and say that they now object
00:21
to it and call on Lincolnshire County Council to pull out. If we can get Lincolnshire County
00:27
Council to pull out, it stops completely. And that's what we want.
00:31
They've got two motions that you're putting forward to the council today.
00:38
Is that the message that you're sending to them?
00:41
Yes. East Lindsay needs to ask Lincolnshire County Council to pull out. And second, we want
00:47
compensation from nuclear waste services. We've got a talented team here at East Lindsay, good
00:52
leadership. They spent a considerable amount of time in good faith on this project. It's been
00:58
frankly a disaster. And now we want to be compensated properly for it.
01:03
So how many communities would be affected if this went ahead?
01:08
Well, there were eight nuclear waste services events in each of the communities. So it's
01:13
between eight and 10 communities. They can't sell their houses. They're stuck. It's no good
01:18
investing because of all the uncertainty. So it's been a terrible impact on a second community
01:25
because this happened four years ago in Fettlethorpe. And now they've moved from a 67 acre brownfield
01:31
site to 1,000 acres they've identified in the middle of the countryside and farmland.
01:39
And that's what you're fighting for?
01:41
That's what we're fighting for.
01:49
Let all be said, we simply close our eyes
