00:03they are ready, or not, to be a barrier

00:05to the people of Southern Leyte

00:08to show their strong support

00:11in defending the country's sovereignty.

00:13From their small town,

00:15the citizens are demanding

00:17their unity in the steps of the government

00:21to defend the territory of the Philippines

00:24in the West Philippine Sea.

00:26This is Aleth Reyes of PIA Leyte

00:29with the national news.

00:32The citizens of Hinonangan

00:35passed a resolution

00:36which was approved by their mayor.

00:39The so-called resolution

00:40emphasizes their support

00:42in defending the country's sovereignty

00:45and shows support

00:46for the strong military of the Philippines

00:49in ensuring its security

00:50in the territorial waters of the country.

00:53According to Attorney Marian Peled,

00:55the presiding officer of the State Council,

00:57their support comes from

00:59understanding the situation

01:01of the local fishermen

01:03whose livelihood is in danger

01:05due to the ongoing international violence

01:07in the territory.

01:09Hinonangan has 14 coastal barangays

01:11out of the 40 barangays.

01:13So, they value

01:15the importance

01:17of their marine resources.

01:19And then,

01:21the issue in the West Philippine Sea,

01:23it talks about

01:25our territory,

01:27our jurisdiction,

01:29wherein our fishermen

01:31can go to their livelihood.

01:33The Armed Forces of the Philippines

01:35first reached

01:37their warm appreciation

01:39for the support of the Hinonangan LGU

01:41in their efforts

01:43to preserve

01:45the West Philippine Sea.
