The All India Students' Federation staged a protest in Chennai against the National Education Policy and the UGC draft regulations.

00:00Well, the AISF, that's the All India Student Federation, have gathered here in Chennai,

00:05Saidapet, to protest against the National Education Policy.

00:09As you can see, that's the poster here that says, we oppose the UGC draft regulations.

00:14Now, remember, the National Education Policy advocates for a three-language policy,

00:19where a third language is offered as an optional language.

00:23Now, the state government says that even though the union government says

00:26that the third language being Hindi will only be optional,

00:29but when it actually gets implemented, it will become a state of Hindi imposition,

00:35because we fear that no other language will actually be offered as an optional third language,

00:39but for Hindi, is what they are saying.

00:42And thereby, they are saying that, come what may,

00:44we will not be implementing the National Education Policy,

00:47and subsequently, the three-language policy that comes along with it,

00:51is what the state government is saying.

00:53And supporting that, we have the student federation over here,

00:56who are staging a huge protest here.

01:27The motive is to understand why is dumping to the Tamil Nadu, Hindi.

01:33We have our own language. My mother tongue is Tamil.

01:36One of the long years more, we are speaking English and a grammatical language.

01:41Why is suddenly come down to put the Hindi, learn Hindi?
