00:06owners to give up their homes or alter their ethnic composition of residential areas.

00:11In this bill, we do not have the right to move the original owner.

00:18I want to give a guarantee to the government that the issue of the original owner does not arise at all.

00:26Citing the Seri Pradesh housing area in Bandar Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur as an example,

00:31Anwar assured MPs that its demographic makeup would remain unchanged.

00:35He was responding to concerns raised by Kuala Terengganu MP Ahmad Amzad Hashim

00:40that the bill could displace long-time residents.

00:44The opposition previously claimed that the proposed law was a subtle method

00:48to displace poor Malays and Indians.

00:51Past Deputy President Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said that MPs from Perikatan Nasional

00:56would oppose the bill as it could disrupt harmony.
