00:02Andrew McCutcheon tore his ACL last night,

00:06will miss the rest of the season.

00:08That is about the worst news that the Phillies

00:11or anybody in baseball that's a fan of the game

00:14could have gotten this year.

00:14That's when it happened.

00:17Pop up and we saw him escorted off the field last night.

00:22Dempy, you and I were here with John Smoltz last night.

00:24We thought, wow, that's too bad.

00:25Hope he's not hurt for very long.

00:27Turns out it's a torn ACL.

00:29Yeah, it sucks.

00:30This is a big blow, big blow to their offense.

00:33You know, the guy at the top of the lineup

00:34has been doing a great job for them.

00:36Fits very well in Philadelphia.

00:38And a guy that's over his career always been healthy.

00:40He's always out there playing.

00:41And so to see something like this happen to anybody

00:43but a guy like Andrew McCutcheon,

00:45who is one of the faces of baseball

00:47and to not have him out on the field

00:48for something like this, so innocent,

00:49a rundown like that and all of a sudden

00:51now his season's done well into next year too.

00:53It's brutal.

00:53It's a huge loss for the Phillies.

00:55There's no way around this.

00:57Remember how they collapsed last season?

01:00A lot of young players there.

01:01I thought his professionalism and just the optimism

01:03he brings to the ballpark every day,

01:05besides being an on-base machine,

01:07doing it once again this year,

01:08was a perfect fit for this team.

01:11And now there's gonna be less traffic

01:13for Harper and for Hoskins.

01:15But more importantly, I think they've lost

01:17one of the real pillars of that clubhouse.

01:19Comes at a terrible time too in terms of the schedule,

01:22in terms of the Braves breathing right down their necks,

01:25in terms of Mike Alfranco getting really cold

01:28and all of a sudden we were celebrating him

01:30as the best number eight hitter in baseball through April.

01:33And in terms of what else is out there,

01:35look, they bring in Jay Bruce,

01:36not knowing that all of a sudden

01:38he was gonna get four at-bats a night,

01:39and that's happening.

01:40And I would imagine they're gonna shop even more

01:42with the loss of McCutcheon.

01:43They're gonna need a right-handed hitting outfielder,

01:45no question about that.

01:46I mean, you could look at somebody like

01:47Nicolas Castellanos, Trey Mancini.

01:50Problem with those guys, they're not really plus defenders.

01:53And I think they need someone who can play the outfield well

01:56as McCutcheon, because you still have Harper,

01:58you still have Jay Bruce,

01:59and they need a good glove guy

02:00as well as a right-handed stick.

02:01So I'm sure they're working the phones already.
