00:00I'm just doing the kind of films that I want to see. I'm just doing the kind of roles that excite me. So that's just about it.
00:09Just that it's a very good film, an immersive new experience for audiences in theatres. It's
00:16got a little bit of everything. It's got family drama, it's got emotions, it's got romance,
00:22it's got A.R. Rahman's music and it's an edge of the seat killer.
00:25This movie was filmed, I've seen the original, was filmed under very extreme circumstances
00:30and conditions. Like how did you keep your sanity alive? I mean it was physically
00:34gruelling as well right?
00:36It made my job as an actor easier because I didn't have to pretend to feel cold and feel
00:45trapped and feel suffocated. I actually was cold and trapped and suffocated and in physical and
00:49mental trauma. So performance wise it was easy but emotionally and physically it was very draining.
00:56You have been taking very interesting and bold choices. You are not going the predictable
01:01route. Has that been deliberate for you?
01:03I think it's just not deliberate as much as it's just come organically to me. It's what
01:08I gravitate towards naturally. I'm just doing the kind of films that I want to see. I'm just
01:12doing the kind of roles that excite me. So that's just about it.
01:15Your dad is also producing the film. So is it a good idea to work with family?
01:20Well, if your family is as sensible and as creative and as amazing as my father then
01:24you should work with your family.
01:25And what did he think of your performance? Did he give you tips? Did he perhaps guide
01:28you? What was the scene?
01:30I think you should ask him what he thought about my performance.
01:33What did you think? I'm sure you must be analysing your own acting and things. Is that
01:37how you go? Is there a process involved?
01:39I really don't know what to say about my own performance other than the fact that I've
01:43really given it my all or tried to give it my all and I hope that people like it.
01:52Are you guys nervous also on what is being accepted and what's not?
01:55I think we're very nervous but I think there's a lot of confidence and security in the fact
02:00that we've made a good film with honest intentions and I'm sure that that should count.
02:06What I want the audiences to take away from the film is that they've had a new, moving
02:12experience. It's made them feel the thrills that we want them to feel but it's also reminded
02:18them to prioritise in life what actually matters because anything can happen at any point of
02:23time. You never know what life has in store for you. Don't be caught up so much in the
02:27hustle-bustle of things, in just surviving or just making a living. I think to actually
02:34live life with the people that you care about, doing things that you care about is very important.
02:40Did you see the original, Helen? Speak to Anna Ben or any of that?
02:44I saw bits and pieces of it. I got the script of the film and I think going off of the script
02:50and just following what my director was saying was enough. Just don't come prepared is what
02:54he said which was new for me so I tried listening to him.
02:57Do you think you've improved as well as an artist with each movie that you do?
03:02I think that's for the audiences to judge.
03:04Yeah, but then you know right?
03:05I think I've gotten more confident and I think that I'm willing to take more risks and I
03:12think that I show up on set now knowing that I can do the job without second-guessing myself.
03:19Are you in love with the process of acting? Is it everything that you hoped it would be?
03:24It's more than everything I hoped it would be. I really am in love with what I do.
03:28Do you think you are an idol of sorts perhaps? Somebody aspirational?
03:32I mean I'd like to think I'm somebody relatable more than aspirational.
