00:00
Good afternoon from the Pag-asa Weather Forecasting Center.
00:03
This is our update on the weather forecast for the next 24 hours.
00:08
We can see here in our latest satellite images,
00:12
the clouds that are affecting the eastern part of the Luzon
00:17
are the continuous effect of the easterlies,
00:19
or the hot winds from the Pacific Ocean.
00:22
At the moment, the clouds and rain are falling
00:25
on the provinces of Mainland Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora,
00:29
and also in the area of Quezon.
00:31
Meanwhile, on the axis of the shoreline,
00:33
we can see the line of clouds
00:35
extending over the extreme northern Luzon
00:38
is the continuous effect of this weather system.
00:42
So, on the provinces and the islands,
00:44
we can also experience clouds and rain,
00:48
falling and lightning.
00:50
The effect of the Intertropical Convergence Zone continues.
00:54
This is the flow of air from the northern and southern hemispheres
00:57
to a large part of Mindanao.
00:59
This afternoon, the thick clouds associated with the ITCZ
01:04
are affecting the southern portion of Mindanao,
01:08
particularly the area of Davao Region, Zamboanga Peninsula,
01:11
as well as the Barm and the provinces of Sultan Kudarat,
01:16
Sarangani, and Lanao del Norte.
01:19
In Metro Manila and other parts of our country,
01:22
we will experience clear skies tomorrow.
01:25
But this afternoon and later tonight,
01:27
there are still chances of sudden and rapid rainfall
01:31
caused by localized thunderstorms.
01:33
We can see here in our satellite images
01:36
that this low-pressure area outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility,
01:40
west of Palawan,
01:42
is far from our country.
01:44
We are not concerned about it.
01:46
It has no effect on us.
01:47
We expect that it will be resolved within the next 24 hours.
01:52
And for our weather forecast for tomorrow here in Luzon,
01:58
the area of Batanes and Buen Islands
02:01
will experience heavy rainfall,
02:04
thunderstorms, and lightning.
02:05
This is still brought by the Sherry Line.
02:07
The Easter Leaves, or the hot winds from the Pacific Ocean,
02:11
will continue to cause high chances of rain
02:15
in the northern part of Luzon.
02:17
Again, for the provinces of Cagayan,
02:19
mainly Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, and Quezon.
02:23
For Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon,
02:25
our prevailing weather system is Easter Leaves.
02:27
So let's hope that this hot and stormy weather
02:30
from the morning to the afternoon
02:32
will still bring us some rain
02:34
because there are still chances of thunderstorms
02:37
late afternoon to evening.
02:40
For the areas of Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao,
02:45
the effects of the ITCZ over Mindanao will gradually decrease tomorrow.
02:49
We expect that the weather system
02:52
that will affect the aforementioned areas will also be Easter Leaves.
02:54
And because of the decrease in the effects of the ITCZ over Mindanao,
02:59
we expect improving weather conditions
03:02
over the southern Mindanao area.
03:03
So it's clear in the time that we will experience
03:06
over Zamboanga Peninsula, Barms, Oxargen, and Davao region.
03:10
The hot and stormy weather in Palawan and Visayas will continue,
03:14
but for now, in all of these forecast areas,
03:17
Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao,
03:19
even if our prevailing weather system is Easter Leaves,
03:22
because the weather is hot,
03:24
it's still possible for thunderstorm clouds to form in the afternoon.
03:28
It's possible for strong winds to blow,
03:30
but it's still possible for it to rain
03:32
from the afternoon to the evening.
03:34
So let's still bring some protection from the rain.
03:38
In terms of our ocean,
03:40
there is currently no high-level gale warning
03:42
in any of our coastal areas
03:45
up to the correct waves
03:47
is what we expect in a large part of our country.
03:50
Even now,
03:51
we still have to be careful with our fishermen
03:55
because if we have offshore thunderstorm activity,
03:58
like rain in our coastal areas,
04:00
we expect strong winds
04:03
which will affect the upper part of our waves.
04:07
And for our 3D weather outlook in our neighboring countries,
04:12
on Monday, February 17,
04:14
this part of Maulap will continue
04:16
up to Maulap and Papawirin.
04:18
Over most of Luzon,
04:19
it will only be accompanied by isolated rain showers
04:22
or localized thunderstorms.
04:24
On Tuesday,
04:25
we expect a change in the northeast monsoon,
04:28
or Hanging Amihan.
04:30
We expect this to affect a large part of northern Luzon,
04:34
that includes Baguio City.
04:36
We expect that the chance of thunderstorm activity
04:39
will decrease over this area.
04:41
It is still possible that on Tuesday,
04:45
there will be light rain showers over northern Luzon
04:48
and the chance of thunderstorms will continue
04:51
in the rest of the Luzon area.
04:53
By Wednesday,
04:55
the chance of rain showers and hailing
04:57
will be high.
04:58
This is what we expect in a large part of northern Luzon,
05:01
that includes Cagayan Valley and Cordillera,
05:04
where Baguio City is located.
05:07
Here in the Visayas area,
05:10
for these three days,
05:11
Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday,
05:13
a large part of the Visayas,
05:15
particularly Metro Cebu, Iloilo City, and Tacloban City,
05:18
will experience hot and humid weather.
05:22
Generally, it will be fair weather,
05:24
but there are still chances of thunderstorms
05:26
in the afternoon and evening.
05:28
Due to the effect of Easterly on Wednesday,
05:31
this part of the eastern Visayas,
05:33
particularly here in Tacloban City,
05:35
will experience a high chance
05:38
of rain showers, hailing, and hailing.
05:42
In the part of Mindanao,
05:44
in the areas of Metro Davao,
05:46
Cagayan de Oro City, and Zamboanga City,
05:48
this is also what we expect.
05:50
Monday and Tuesday,
05:51
the weather will continue to be clear.
05:53
Starting tomorrow,
05:54
the effect of ITCZ will decrease.
05:56
Easterly, or the wind coming from the Pacific Ocean,
06:00
will be our prevailing weather condition.
06:03
So, we expect fair weather conditions.
06:05
There are still chances of rain showers
06:07
in the afternoon and evening.
06:08
But by Wednesday,
06:10
we expect the possible re-effect
06:13
of the Intertropical Convergence Zone.
06:15
The axis will either rise or shift northward,
06:19
where it will possibly affect
06:22
a large part of southern Mindanao,
06:24
including some parts of the Davao region.
06:27
So, here in Metro Davao,
06:28
on Wednesday,
06:29
we expect it to be cloudy
06:31
and rainy,
06:33
sunny, and rainy.
06:35
The sunny weather here in Manila
06:37
will subside later this afternoon,
06:40
and will rise again tomorrow,
06:42
around 6.20 a.m.
06:44
For more information about the weather,
06:47
