It was hailed as the Super Bowl of snow events for Chicago, at least for the last year or so.
00:06
But as it turns out, it was just enough snow to remind Chicagoans it's still February.
00:11
Yesterday, I felt like Tim Burton's Batman to where I could only do this because of how many layers were on my neck.
00:20
Despite the less than stellar snow event, this week's snowfall is the most significant snow event of the season.
00:27
And it's long overdue. So far, Chicago has been in a snow drought.
00:32
It was the least snowy start to the season in nearly nine decades,
00:36
when Chicago got a meager 4.6 inches of snow in mid-February of 1936.
00:43
We'd rather have the snow because at least the temperatures are going to be warmer.
00:47
If it drops in those single digits, what are going to happen next week, we don't really care for that.
00:54
The city used more than 1,800 snow plows over the last 24 hours or so
00:58
to make sure all the roads would be cleared for the busy commuters on Thursday.
01:03
In Millennium Park, sidewalks were heavily salted and paths were cleared within hours of the last snowflakes
01:09
to get ready for the busy Valentine's weekend.
01:12
Valentine's Day is literally tomorrow.
01:14
This is the kind of weather you want to just curl up with your honey and just really, really enjoy it.
01:21
Now, Chicago will get a break from the snow for about 24 hours on Friday evening.
01:26
They're expecting another band of moderate snow and then bitterly cold temperatures move in here.
01:31
Temperatures over the weekend are only expected to be in the single digits for highs,
01:35
and the morning lows will be sub-zero.
01:38
That will last well into President's Day next week.
01:41
Reporting from Chicago, I'm Leslie Hudson for AccuWeather.
