Huawei Watch GT Runner: Is it the watch that will help you run your first marathon?

00:00As promised we are back for the Huawei GT runner review. So let's start with the

00:06unboxing. I'm actually super excited about this because everybody's saying

00:15this is the best watch in the market when it comes to runners and I know

00:25previously some of the brands have always struggled to meet the demands of

00:31professional runners and apparently this watch features an AI algorithm which

00:37enables it to overcome that problem. So let's start. Love the box, I love black

00:47and the fabulous gold writing. The usual elements and there's the watch. It is a

01:0046 mm watch face and has a black strap. It is supposed to be completely

01:10dustproof and waterproof which is really useful here. Something really cool when I

01:16unboxed was the fact that there was a replacement strap which is really useful

01:21especially here as summer comes in and the wear and tear and if you're running

01:27outside tends to be much higher and sometimes the rubber tends to break and

01:33crack. Comes with the usual Huawei charger for the smart watches which is

01:41just plug, charge and there it is. The new Huawei GT runner is really light. It's

01:51pretty clear because of the large bezel especially if you're running and a lot

01:57of forums have been telling us as to how it is probably the best smart watch in

02:03the market for amateur runners and I decided to kind of test it out a bit but

02:12first let's start with what are the elements. So you press this knob and the

02:22Huawei Harmony system comes on and it works with the Huawei Health app which

02:31is available on both any Android 6 plus device and iOS and of course any Harmony

02:41OS. So we look for English and then the same you have to pair it with the app

02:50which is what I'm going to do. So I paired my GT runner with my Huawei

02:55Health app and it tells me various details like there is 64% battery, it's

03:01connected and of course the same watch faces, the health monitoring, music,

03:11weather reports and of course it allows you to connect the watch to the phone

03:21using your Bluetooth wherein you can actually answer calls. So once you pair

03:27it it's really really easy but before that I just wanted to tell you about

03:32this little detail that Huawei has added. It actually tells you how to use the

03:38watch and how to protect yourself against latex sensitivity so that is a

03:43really good detail because sometimes it also tells you about how to limit your

03:48usage etc and how you can loosen the watch a bit once you've used it. So now

03:54and then yes the watch face is really large it's 46 mm so it's really visible

04:00and then you have this which is basically the home button but it will

04:05also let you toggle. I'm just going to show you that. Press and there it is it

04:12lets you scroll through all the various aspects that you need to so you don't

04:19need to adjust the time data because it's already paired so it's really cool

04:23and you go to settings in case you want to update the software permissions you

04:30want to set a pin number and then you want to change your watch face all of

04:35that can be done. Again you press and you go back you can press. As with the

04:45previous GT watches this too has the SPO2 activity records so obviously

04:55haven't used the watch so there is no activity I'm hoping to change that soon.

05:00So like I said you can scroll up and down you have the workout records, the

05:08workout status, you even have a workout. Now what is really interesting is

05:14remember I told you about the fact that sometimes some of these watches cannot

05:20cater very easily to highly skilled athletes or professional runners but

05:28what the Huawei GT runner has done is that with the help of its AI algorithm

05:34especially in the outdoor run feature it actually helps you use the algorithm to

05:41give you a constant update on your performance and how to kind of speed up

05:48slow down change it's really useful. It's also very useful for beginner runners so

05:55especially if you're trying to do your first 5k 10k or your marathon this is a

06:01great tool. Based on my experience with the previous devices this has to be one

06:07of the best smart watches in the market when it comes to running. The Huawei GT

06:133 runner comes with running courses and running plans which is again like I said

06:19previously really useful useful if you are trying to train for your 5k 10k or

06:25marathon. Another thing that's really useful about this watch is the fact that

06:30it takes signals from multiple satellites because of which its precision

06:36in tracking your course is really high in fact considered the highest as for

06:41many forums in the market. So would I recommend this? Yes especially as a

06:46beginner runner I would most definitely and it is something that even

06:51professional runners should look into. It also includes several other 100 plus

06:57sports and what is also interesting about this watch is that it picks up

07:01your sport activity and can identify it so that's also really useful and that's

07:06all from us today.
