With buckets full of freshly cut flowers, red roses took centre stage at Australia’s largest flower market on Thursday (Feb 13) as local growers and florists prepared for their busiest and biggest day of the year, Valentine's Day.

00:38a local grower, said he has prepared 65,000 stems of Red Roses for the
00:43special day.
00:44I think it's going to be a great year this year. Everyone's in a really good mood.
00:47I think there's a lot of love in the air. I don't know what's going on, but yeah, it's
00:50happening. It's definitely happening this year.

00:56I think it's going to be a big one. Despite the rising cost of living,
00:59which has impacted the flower industry through increased costs of water,
01:03fertilizer, and wages. But we're doing our best to try to keep
01:08as sharp as possible so that everyone can enjoy
01:11still buying a rose or a nice bouquet at a reasonable price.
01:16I think flowers, giving flowers at the end of the day, it's a special thing.
01:19It's an occasional thing and I think, you know what, they've got to spend that little
01:23bit extra to keep someone happy. Why not?
