00:00
Every Ramadan, our Muslim brothers and sisters fast from the rising of the sun to its setting within 30 days.
00:12
Almost all people in the world believe that there is someone who is the greatest and most powerful of all.
00:20
Fasting is said to strengthen their belief in Allah,
00:25
and it strengthens their faith in Allah.
00:31
Today, we are here at Abu Bakr Asidic Islamic Center
00:37
to join our Muslim brothers and sisters in their Maghrib and Iftar.
00:42
Join us!
00:56
I just realized that I won't be able to eat all day,
01:01
from the rising of the sun to the setting of the sun.
01:10
I won't be able to eat.
01:12
I'll be hungry, I'll be thirsty, I won't be able to eat.
01:15
I won't be able to eat.
01:16
I won't be able to eat.
01:18
At the time of Iftar, and before eating to finish the fast,
01:23
you must first pray or Maghrib.
01:27
That's how it is.
01:29
If your fast is true,
01:35
Allah Almighty,
01:37
you will have happiness in your heart.
01:42
If you feel that kind of happiness,
01:45
then you are on the right path.
01:47
The preparation of Iftar at Abu Bakr Asidic Islamic Center during Ramadan is not easy.
01:54
This is what we call Iftar.
01:57
Our Muslim brothers and sisters fast for 14 hours.
02:05
After that, we gather together to break our fast,
02:10
and this is what we call Iftar.
02:12
But a group of cooks and volunteers
02:15
for our fellow Filipinos and Muslims here in Dubai
02:18
is ready to serve.
02:21
We have soup and rice.
02:24
That's two parts.
02:26
The first part is the soup and rice,
02:29
then Maghrib prayer.
02:31
After Maghrib prayer,
02:33
the second part of Iftar is the heavy meal.
02:37
We have three types of meals,
02:39
sometimes four,
02:40
depending on the number of groups that are prepared.
02:43
The people who prepare for Iftar every night
02:46
are made up of seven groups of volunteers
02:49
from different sectors of society.
02:52
The students here,
02:54
we divide them into seven groups
02:57
because you have to choose which day you want to fast.
03:04
The volunteers stay in the kitchen
03:07
to make a delicious salad
03:09
after a long day of fasting during the month of Ramadan.
03:13
They are prepared first because of the Monday group.
03:17
In the Monday group, most of them are fasting.
03:20
So they have a special meal
03:25
that they call Chulang Itim.
03:28
Chulang Itim is beef
03:32
and it is cooked in a charcoal oven.
03:36
It's color is black,
03:38
that's why it's called Chulang Itim.
03:40
There are also volunteers
03:42
who remember the path of the believers
03:46
from Maghrib to Iftar.
03:48
It depends.
03:49
Those who start in the kitchen,
03:51
usually we are here from 3 o'clock to 3.30.
03:54
We continue until the prayer is over.
03:59
That's why it's very important for our Muslim countrymen
04:04
to fast during Ramadan here in the UAE.
04:07
Every day, from Sunday to Saturday,
04:12
each group has a leader
04:16
and they prepare different meals.
04:18
Muhammad Yuri is here with us
04:22
Sir, what is this sweet?
04:25
This is the specialty of Tausug, the sweets.
04:28
We call it Tabid-Tabid.
04:33
This is Tabid-Tabid,
04:35
this is Putlimandi,
04:37
and this is Daral.
04:38
All of these are the specialties of Tausug.
04:42
Why is it called Tabid-Tabid?
04:44
Because it's curled.
04:45
When it's cooked, it's curled.
04:47
It's like it's spinning.
04:49
These are delicious.
04:50
The taste is to believe.
04:51
That's what we call it.
04:52
Thank you very much, Muhammad Yuri.
04:54
Fasting also provides
04:56
good benefits for the whole body and mind.
05:05
Okay, Doc, so please give us some healthy tips
05:08
when someone is fasting.
05:09
Okay, so healthy tips are as follows, Mr. Manuel.
05:12
I usually advise them to take more water,
05:16
at least 8 glasses of water.
05:20
Number two, okay,
05:21
since they're from a fasting state,
05:23
they must have to avoid overeating during iftar.
05:26
And thirdly,
05:27
they must not skip meals during the pre-dawn,
05:31
or the so-called supper.
05:34
And then,
05:35
they must avoid to drink coffee or some sugary foods,
05:40
and especially those salty foods,
05:42
because basically, during the fasting state,
05:45
they are prone to have some dehydration.
05:47
For our Muslim countrymen here in the Middle East,
05:50
especially in Muslim countries like the UAE,
05:54
it is important to give importance and to understand
05:58
the true meaning of faith and endurance,
06:02
especially during Ramadan.
06:04
Actually, this Islamic Center is for our countrymen
06:13
who have entered Islam.
06:15
We want to educate them about Islam
06:19
so that at least they won't be corrupted,
06:23
they won't be given bad information outside.
06:28
That's why they need to learn.
06:30
That's why what we do here is formal studies,
06:33
Islamic and Arabic studies.
06:36
It's formal.
06:37
We have a curriculum,
06:39
we have a basic and advanced course of Islamic and Arabic studies.
06:45
We had a great experience here at Abu Bakr Asiddiq Islamic Center.
06:50
Here, we experienced how warmly they received us
06:54
and gave importance to us tonight.
06:57
So, see you next week.
06:59
May God bless you, viewers.
07:01
Thank you very much to our Muslim countrymen here in the UAE.
07:05
And again, Ramadan Kareem.
