00:09Here are the top stories at this hour.

00:12A group of militants stormed a university in volatile north-western Pakistan this morning,

00:17police said.

00:18At least 21 people were killed in the ensuing shootouts, including several gunmen.

00:24The militants, using the cover of thick fog, scaled the walls of the Bacha Khan University

00:29in Charsada in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, before opening fire on students and teachers

00:35in classrooms and hostels.

00:38Pakistan's Prime Minister has offered to host talks between Iran and Saudi Arabia, aimed

00:43at resolving disputes between the two.

00:45Nawaz Sharif met Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in Tehran, a day after meeting Saudi

00:51Arabia's King Salman in Riyadh.

00:54After his meeting with Rouhani, Sharif told reporters that Iran had expressed an interest

00:59in improving relations with Saudi Arabia, and would appoint a focal person for future

01:04talks.

01:05Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir, meanwhile, said the lifting of sanctions on Iran will

01:10be a harmful development if it uses the extra money to fund nefarious activities.

01:17Former US vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin has endorsed Republican billionaire

01:22Donald Trump, saying the real estate mogul would lead the charge as America's next president.

01:29Palin emerged as a conservative icon and political power broker following her failed 2008 vice-presidential bid.

01:37Sport and an ex-tennis player from South America has told the BBC that match-fixing is commonplace

01:44and some elite players are a little bit dirty in some way.

01:49The unnamed player also claimed fixing is not just limited to lower-ranked professionals

01:55and is a secret that everybody knows.

01:58She further alleged that tennis authorities know who is doing it but are unwilling to

02:03stop it.

02:04In the Australian Open, Serena Williams said her sister Venus had given no indication that

02:10the current tournament would be her last, and she assumes the 35-year-old will return

02:15next year after her shock exit.

02:18Venus' 69th Grand Slam was abruptly ended in the first round by Britain's Johanna Konta,

02:25and she was later fined $5,000 for skipping her mandatory press conference.

02:32Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx is a real-life hero.

02:36Foxx and one other person pulled a man from his burning truck moments before it became

02:41engulfed in flames near Foxx's Southern California home on Tuesday.

02:46The California Highway Patrol said the pickup went off the road and then went into a ditch,

02:52rolling over multiple times and becoming engulfed in flames, with a male driver trapped

02:57inside.

02:59Foxx said he heard the crash from his house, called 911 and ran to the scene for the rescue.

03:06And finally, the weather.

03:07Today's high across the UAE will be 25 degrees Celsius, dropping to 17 degrees at night.
