00:00This is the fourth annual Middle East Film and Comic Con held at the Dubai World Trade

00:12Centre.

00:13They estimate to get about 50,000 people through the doors over this weekend.

00:16Whether you're into your movies, your TV shows, your games, or you just want to come along

00:21and dress up and release your inner nerd, there is something for everyone.

00:25And someone who seems to be a staple at all the Comic Cons now is Max Landis.

00:30I am the only stable fixture and that's because I actually would say this is the best Comic

00:36Con in the world.

00:38Most of the comic book conventions you go to in America have a level of jadedness and

00:44a level of other stuff going on.

00:49Whereas here, people are here, people came out because they love it.

00:53And watching it grow organically every year has been, probably as a fan of this stuff,

00:59the most rewarding experience of my life.

01:03This city, which is totally out of someone's futuristic imagination, it's an extraordinary

01:10city.

01:11It's an astonishment.

01:14And Comic Con follows that astonishment.

01:20All this is out of people's imagination of what the future is like, what romance is like,

01:26what horror is like, and that's what attracts you to the Comic Con and the people in it.

01:35But this city itself is worthy of having a con, a Dubai con.

01:46No reaction.

01:47No one's going to come to the Dubai con.

01:50One of the big highlights, of course, of the Middle East Film and Comic Con is it can be

01:54all about the comics.

01:56And in places like this, it's an opportunity for the fans to come and meet their favourite

02:00artists.

02:01It's my second time here at Middle East Comic Con.

02:04I'm absolutely loving it and hope to see you again next year.

02:11One of the sections of the Middle East Film and Comic Con that seems to get bigger and

02:14bigger every year is the Artist's Alley.

02:17This is a place where local and regional artists come to show off their talents, whether that

02:21be book writing, illustrations, or model making.

02:25There literally is something here for everyone.

02:28I do these.

02:29I hand sculpt them with oil clay after I make a mould, cast them, and then I paint them.

02:40So it's handmade.

02:42One of the special guests at this year's Comic Con is Mil Jose Romelu, who of course is most

02:48famous for playing Syrio Forel in the Game of Thrones.

02:51And we were lucky enough to take part in a masterclass where he taught us the sword fight.

02:57I guess I'm surprised at how big Game of Thrones is anywhere in the world, because it's more

03:08than just a popular TV show or a popular series of books.

03:12It always feels that it's more of a phenomena.

03:15It's like it's captured people's imagination and the way it's been taken on by fans all

03:24over the world, I mean, that never ceases to amaze me.

03:29You can't ever take that for granted, really.

03:31One big attraction about the Middle East Film and Comic Con is the opportunity for people

03:35to come and cosplay.

03:37This basically means that people can come dressed up in costume, whether it be anything

03:41historical, relevant to TV shows, their favourite superheroes, or manga characters.

03:47You can basically be your inner child and be anyone you want for the entire weekend.

04:03Because Comic Con is amazing!

04:05Because we are fangirls!

04:13I have a life!

04:14I'm a fangirl!

04:15When we say gamers, we normally think of computer games, but check this out, the Geek Out Zone,

04:22and basically you have people here playing different types of games, whether it be on

04:26tabletops with all the little models, or we've got big floor games to the right of me as

04:31well.

04:32If you have a bunch of friends and you like playing video games, why not try a board game?

04:35It's more fun.

04:36You can take it around with you, you can take it to a friend's house, and you can explore

04:39new adventures.

04:40Most video games, the adventure ends in a few days or a week maximum.

04:43Maybe a year if you're playing an online game.

04:45But with these games, it goes on for years, and it's a new, different adventure every

04:49time.

04:50Would you like to earn a donut?

04:52If you go on this quest of epic proportions, you too can earn a donut.

04:58So the 2015 Middle East Film and Comic Con comes to a close, and I think we can safely

05:04say this year's been bigger and better than ever, and we look forward to next year, and

05:08I'm not sure how they're going to top it.

05:10But let's face it, Comic Con wouldn't be Comic Con without a Stormtrooper.
