00:00In support of the Commission on Elections, or COMELEG, the Philippine National Police, or PNP, is intensifying its security measures against vote-buying as the campaign period for the 2025 midterm elections officially began today.
00:15According to Police Regional Office 3 Director and PNP Spokesperson, Police Brigadier General Gene Fajardo, the PNP will focus on enforcing the money ban five days before the elections.
00:30Individuals carrying cash amounts of P500,000 or more at checkpoints will be required to provide an explanation.
00:39While possessing such amount is not prohibited, Fajardo emphasized that this measure ensures the money is for legitimate transactions and not potential vote-buying.
00:51The PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group will also conduct a cyber-patrolling in partnership with e-wallet platforms to monitor online transactions of candidates.
