00:00Parkour and street workout, hugely popular throughout Europe and the West, have finally

00:10found a home here in the UAE. Originally developed by the French military as a means of deploying

00:15their soldiers from point A to point B in the shortest time possible, the discipline

00:19was later transformed into a health and fitness regimen by people looking for an alternative

00:23way of getting fit. Over the weekend, the UAE parkour team, a growing group of people

00:28who want to make the sport big in the UAE, held an event showcasing their talents.

00:32Parkour is about how to come over an obstacle, basically being creative, climbing, jumping,

00:38leaping, running, strength, balance, everything, including any kind of movement we can use

00:44to overcome an obstacle. Today's jam is about sharing experience in different types of freestyle.

00:50We are hosting today Bar Bar's crew from Ukraine. Basically street workout is about strength,

00:58strength movement, which we usually use in parkour movements as a balance, handstands,

01:02muscle ups. Today we made this event to let people know more about what we do, what kind

01:09of movements they need to learn in order to develop the physical and mental skills.

01:18Members of the crowd, blown away by the display of strength and acrobatics, were motivated

01:21to try it out for themselves, bringing the sport one step closer to being a fixture in
