25 children undergo heart surgery in Dubai

00:00Dubai Health Authority commanded heart surgeons during a ceremony held at Dubai Hospital to

00:08honor doctors who conducted free surgeries for 25 children suffering from congenital

00:13heart disease.

00:14The children were treated by a team of cardiologists from Dubai Health Authority Hospitals and

00:19San Milano Hospital, Italy.

00:21Since the launch of this initiative in 2007, more than 300 children, including newborns

00:26and teenagers up to 19 years old, have benefited from the program.

00:30Of all the surgeries, ours were of the most ratings of 100% success of the surgery.

00:39So we had three corrections done and one of them involved a patch between the two atriums

00:45and a moving of two arteries from the heart to the lungs.

00:49So having a 100% success, it demands a huge skill from the doctors to achieve that.

00:55We're very pleased.

00:57Known as NABADAT, which means heart beat, the program is a joint humanitarian initiative

01:02organized by the Dubai Health Authority and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian

01:08and Charity Establishment.

01:09It has many achievements.

01:10Actually, so many people around us worldwide, they are in need of it.

01:11Families are not able to afford these very expensive sorts of treatments or they don't

01:22have access to the specialized people and doctors who are available worldwide but are

01:28scattered.

01:29So this initiative brings them together, at least here to Dubai.

01:33So we are organizing that sort of effort, bringing the experts together.

01:37This is the 11th workshop for free heart surgeries that has taken place since inception of the

01:41humanitarian program in 2007.

01:44The one-week workshop began on the 26th of January and all surgeries were successfully

01:48completed.
