Dubai Airport's new Terminal 3

Gulf News took a tour around Dubai International Airport's new Terminal 3.

00:00For travellers who are used to the cramped and chaotic feel of airport life, Dubai International

00:10Airport's new Terminal 3 is going to be a refreshing change.

00:15Gulf News decided to have a look around.

00:18The first thing you will notice is the spacious check-in area, filled with ample facilities

00:24to make a traveller smile.

00:26After check-in and security, you head up, not across, to a shopper's paradise where

00:32you can abuse your plastic or just admire the architecture.

00:37A towering expanse of silver columns lets natural lights flood in through the dome ceiling.

00:44Passengers can also forget they are in an airport as they relax in a tranquil zen garden

00:49complete with waterfalls and lush green trees.

00:53If you're lucky enough to be a premium passenger, you can head to the lounges where I met with

00:59the CEO of Dubai Airport, Paul Griffiths.

01:02Well, there's a lot that's unique.

01:03For a start, the size and scale of it, I mean, it's significantly larger than the other two

01:08terminals that we have here at Dubai Airport.

01:10But the most important thing about it is that it actually adds something like 20 million

01:15passenger capacity to the existing airport, taking it from 40 million to 60 million.

01:21The other thing about it, of course, because it's a brand-new facility, it embodies state-of-the-art

01:26systems and processes, so the passenger experience, hopefully, will be hugely improved on the

01:33technology of Concourse 1 and Terminal 1, which, of course, is now some eight years old.

01:39With first-class services, shopping, and plenty of places to relax between flights, travellers

01:46have a lot to look forward to.
