00:03become the New Orleans Saints head coach barring any

00:06unexpected developments this a report officially on Saturday

00:11night from Adam Schefter. But Donnie, it's really what we have

00:14known for the last two, two and a half weeks, or so Kellen Moore

00:19will get his first head coaching job will remain in New Orleans,

00:23trying to resurrect this Saints offense into 2025 and beyond.

00:28It's not a great job in New Orleans. But understand this

00:31when you could walk into that room and flash that ring and

00:33say, you guys want to be great on offense, see what I just did,

00:35I can sell that to my organization. And it was the

00:38worst kept secret over the past week and a half where everybody

00:41was bowing out for the job except for Kellen Moore. And

00:44it's a shame because we always talk about the timeline, the

00:47way the NFL offseason moves, there should be a moratorium

00:50where the end of the season to the Super Bowl, nobody can hire

00:53anybody to give everybody a fair chance at that point. Because

00:56the shame of it is the Philadelphia Eagles who probably

00:59would attract the best and the brightest to say, boy, you want

01:02to take over Kellen Moore, you put in one good year, you'll

01:04probably be a head coach as well. Everybody's already been

01:07hired. The Eagles went to the Super Bowl two years ago, lost

01:10their offensive and defensive coordinators. You saw that

01:13turned out they were a mess on offense and defense the

01:17following season before riding the ship by getting the great

01:19Vic Fangio. And it's certainly proven product in Kellen Moore.

01:22But for Kellen, I can't fault you when there's one of 32 jobs

01:26open, you'd never had a head coaching job before strike while

01:30the iron's hot. He did that Bobby Slowick was able to do

01:33that. Ben Johnson was able to do that. But hopefully, he gets a

01:37pretty clean track there down in New Orleans. But being a

01:39conquering hero now winning in New Orleans, the Super Bowl,

01:42then becoming the Saints head coach, they're probably pretty

01:44happy down there, Ben.

01:46Listen, again, it is not a great situation. Mickey Loomis has

01:49been the general manager for a very long time. A lot of people

01:53around the Saints organization, not in it, but around it. I

01:56think that needs to change to try to guide a new direction in

02:00the big easy. Kellen Moore is 36 years old, turns 37. This

02:06summer, first time head coach and a genius offensive mind in

02:10his young career as a coach around the NFL, but Donnie for

02:13Philadelphia. Now the second time playing in a Super Bowl in

02:18the last three years, this time winning a Super Bowl and having

02:21to replace coordinators after 2022. Both Shane Steichen and

02:26Jonathan Gannon depart for head coaching jobs. Now Kellen Moore

02:30becomes the head coach in New Orleans, they will have to fill

02:34the OC spot in Philly, but you would expect Vic Fangio, who is

02:39maybe the mastermind of all of this team success in the history

02:42we saw out of the Eagles would remain there as the defensive

02:46coordinator.

02:47Yes, and the good part about that is which is what the

02:50Kansas City Chiefs been able to get away with having one of the

02:52best defensive coordinators in football never get looked at for

02:54a head coaching job because maybe they think he's a little

02:56bit too old. Vic Fangio actually is all just like Jim Johnson was

03:00old in Philadelphia, but never getting that look. The Eagles

03:03are going to be a big winner because Vic Fangio is probably

03:05not going to get a head coaching job and he's probably just fine

03:08with that. So at least you have stability on the defensive side

03:11now where you don't lose both your offensive and defensive

03:13coordinators.
