Download 2025: Who do festival goers think will play a secret set?

As of writing and uploading, Download Festival have yet to make a second announce for acts performing at the 2025 event. But that's not stopped fans on social media sharing who they think could perform a 'secret set' at Donnington Park this June.

00:03We're all waiting for that next line-up of bands to be announced by Download Festival

00:08for their 2025 event.

00:11I mean, not that we're not spoilt for choice already, but, you know, the rumours are online,

00:16on Reddit and social media, that a couple of acts might end up being the secret set

00:23that was alluded to by the festival organisers in an interview earlier this year.

00:28But, who do people on social media think are going to be one, or perhaps some, of the secret

00:34acts at this year's festival?

00:37Is it really a party unless Skintread get involved?

00:40They're one of the names being touted around.

00:43Having said that, Skintread have been regulars at the festival previously, so maybe instead

00:49of a secret set they might be part of that second announcement of acts that we're all

00:54waiting patiently for?

00:56Alternatively, Architects could be making a surprise appearance as well.

01:00With their brutal metalcore sound and emotionally charged lyrics, you could expect a high-octane

01:05performance that'll leave you breathless, and you can also expect them to be doing a

01:10tour when their album drops on February 28th.

01:13Knocked Loose are rumoured to tear it up at Download, bringing their raw intensity and

01:17hardcore chaos.

01:19So if you're into heavy high-energy sets, apparently these guys will absolutely deliver,

01:24along with Turnstyle and their genre-defying sound, which is creating waves, and if they

01:29do pop up at Download 2025, it's going to be a show like no other, I've been told.

01:34Expect some serious grooves and an unforgettable vibe.

01:40Though they are playing Slam Dunk Festival in a UK-exclusive performance, that's not

01:44to say that the wild blend of Eurodance and metalcore might not make a secret appearance

01:50at this year's Download Festival.

01:52Well a day to remember are rumoured to bring their mix of post-hardcore and pop-punk to

01:56the secret set stage, wherever that may be, and the nostalgia would be real with hits

02:02like The Downfall of Us All and If It Means A Lot To You.

02:06It's been 20 years since Trivium blew up at Download Festival, and could they be making

02:11a surprise appearance as well?

02:13If so, get ready for more face-melting riffs, insane solos, and some of the finest metalcore

02:19on the planet.

02:21And as weird as it sounds, there is talk of Spinal Tap.

02:25Now the legendary mock rock band might just make a surprise appearance, owing to the fact

02:30that their brand new movie, a sequel to the 1984 classic, is due for release at some point

02:37this year, so could we expect ridiculous props from the classic rock satire group?

02:44Bear with me a minute, because I have to get my breath back here, because the last time

02:47I saw Killswitch engage at Download Festival wasn't so much a mistake, I just didn't realise

02:53I'd be caught in a mosh pit or a circle pit quite as quickly, but they're another act

02:58that people hope might end up being announced as part of the second wave of acts to be confirmed

03:03this year, although if not, a secret set would be great, but the two big names that people

03:10seem to be bartering around, and take this with a pinch of salt, Nine Inch Nails?

03:16That's right, the industrial rock legends might surprise Download Festival patrons with

03:20a secret set that would take people on a dark and atmospheric journey.

03:26That rumour comes with the fact that they are playing the first of their UK shows the

03:30week after Download Festival, with nothing prior booked according to the tour schedule.

03:37And last but by no means least, celebrating the 25th anniversary of their self-titled

03:42album, Slipknot, a surprise set from the masked legends?

03:47Pure chaos, brutal energy, and could be one of those unforgettable Download moments much

03:53like when Metallica played their secret set eons and eons ago, but again, pinch of salt

03:59territory, those last two bands might decide they want to do something else instead.
