00:00The relationship between the Philippines and Vietnam is becoming more stable due to the security cooperation and joint bilateral mechanism.

00:13Although both have claims in the West Philippine Sea,

00:15the relationship between the Philippines and Vietnam is stronger and more intense.

00:20In fact, the Philippine Ambassador to Vietnam,

00:23Meynardo Montealegre, in an interview with Radyo Pilipinas World Service,

00:28the security cooperation and joint bilateral mechanism between the two countries continues.

00:34We have a mechanism to discuss our political security cooperation.

00:41We have a so-called joint bilateral mechanism

00:47where we discuss this issue.

00:53Under the joint bilateral mechanism of the Philippines and Vietnam,

00:57foreign ministers, undersecretaries, and working-levels are discussing issues in the West Philippine Sea.

01:06As of August 2024,

01:09the Philippines and Vietnam conducted their first joint maritime drills in the WPS.

01:15The Philippine Coast Guard, PCG BRP Gabriela Silang,

01:20and the Vietnam Coast Guard, VCG CSB 8002,

01:24conducted search and rescue operations,

01:30firefighting and explosion drills, aerial surveillance, and passing exercise in Correjidor Island, Bataan.
