00:00The Department of Agriculture has already declared a food security emergency on rice.

00:04Details on the national news of Clayzell Partilla of PTV Manila.

00:08Joshua, the Agriculture Secretary, Francisco Tiola, has already declared a food security emergency on rice.

00:19Today, following the recommendation of the National Price Coordinating Council,

00:24it aims to achieve a very high rice price in the markets.

00:29According to Department Circular No. 3 of the Agriculture Department,

00:34the National Food Authority will allow the sale of cheap rice to local governments

00:40that can be used as aid or for sale to the public and the President's allies.

00:46This is aimed at influencing and stabilizing the price of rice in the markets.

00:52Based on the text message sent by the NFA Administrator Larry Lackson,

00:58they are increasing the supply of NFA rice to the NCR

01:02so that NFA rice can be exported here first

01:05because Metro Manila is known to have high prices of rice.

01:12Aside from that, Joshua, this hackbang will also help to expand the NFA warehouses

01:18and provide a way for new rice to enter the harvest season.

01:24The NFA has 700,000 sacks of rice as of February 1,

01:29which is expected to be non-regular or old stock.

01:33The national food emergency will last until the price trend for rice improves.
