00:00The U.S. Department of Agriculture reports the Philippines imports 200,200 metric tons

00:06of frozen buffalo meat primarily for corned beef and plans to increase this by 6,000 metric

00:13tons in 2025.

00:15The Department of Agriculture has accredited 34 Indian companies to export buffalo meat,

00:21offering more sourcing options for manufacturers amid foot and mouth disease threats.

00:27This move will reduce corned beef production costs by increasing raw material sources

00:32and help manage supply and prices of other commodities like pork.

00:37The DA will remove the color-coding system for ASF-affected farms, restricting only those

00:43testing positive.

00:45It also plans to allocate P300 million for 30 million doses of avian flu vaccines to

00:52protect the poultry industry.

00:55Corned beef will not be depleted.

00:57We are buying more Indian buffalo meat, not today, but historically in the last few years,

01:05versus China, Malaysia, and Indonesia because they have accredited more plants than us.

01:13So let's hold on to our suppliers.

01:16Well, the DA now is accrediting a lot of other countries in South America to be able to supply

01:23pork, chicken, and beef to the Philippines to expand our sourcing.

01:29It doesn't mean that we will import more, but we need to open up supply sources so that

01:37we can fight.

01:39Look at what happened in India.

01:41Only six plants were able to enter the Philippines.
