We catch up with a husband and wife duo who have opened Shropshire Kitchens and Bathrooms in a new purpose built building in Aston on Clun.

00:05So it's a husband and wife duo isn't it?

00:08It certainly is.

00:08Yeah, well what's it like working with your wife?

00:12Dangerous.

00:15Challenging.

00:16But it's fine.

00:17Yeah I'm sure it is. And who've we got at the back there?

00:20I'm Sue.

00:21Sue, hello Sue. And this is Dominic and another Sue, Susan.

00:24That's correct.

00:25So it's a brand new business.

00:27It is.

00:28So where are you situated? Tell people first how to find you.

00:31Well we're in Aston on Clon which is in the Craven Arms area.

00:35And we're established on the established business yard of John Payne's Building Supplies.

00:41Great stuff.

00:41So it's, you know, we're sort of set in a good position for a lot of passing trade.

00:46Yeah.

00:47So what's the background with you two then? What kind of were you up to before this?

00:51Well I'm 40 years in the construction industry.

00:53Kitchens, bathrooms and buildings as well.

00:56So we've got a whole in-house team.

00:59So we do all the trades.

01:00So it's a complete package that we offer.

01:03Yeah.

01:04And we have the latest CAD design and some really nice kitchens and bathrooms as well as bedrooms.

01:10Cool.

01:10To choose from.

01:11And what sort of opening times then?

01:13So you've got to give yourself a day off haven't you? At least one.

01:15We have one day off which is Sunday.

01:17But we are open Monday to Friday 8am till 5pm.

01:21Yeah.

01:21And then we're open on Saturday till 12pm.

01:25But we do appointment only for Saturdays if it's later in the day.

01:28Good.

01:30And what's kind of the, what are people buying at the minute?

01:33Because it kind of, you get fashions in all rooms don't you?

01:36Including kitchens.

01:37What's popular at the minute in the world of kitchens?

01:40Well at the moment we've got a lot of dark colours are popular.

01:43Blues and greens.

01:44So we have shaker doors which is always very popular in blues and greens.

01:49But we've also just quite a move towards more modernist kitchens now which we have here as well.

01:54Which is the solid slab with the sort of more German look.

01:58Okay yeah.

01:59European sort of kitchens.

02:01So there's a bit of everything.

02:02Got you.

02:03So it's kitchens and bathrooms equally then? 50-50 yeah?

02:06The showrooms mainly the kitchens but we have got one nice display which shows what we can have.

02:12Lovely yeah.

02:14So is it just retail that you're doing?

02:16No no we're open to the trade as well.

02:18And yeah everybody's welcome if they want to come in and bring their customers as well.

02:22And we'll always design for them and supply them with some good quality kitchens.
