At least five people died and over 40 others injured when a wooden platform collapsed during a religious gathering in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday (Jan 28).

00:10District Magistrate Asmita Lal said that hundreds of members from the Jain community had gathered
00:15in Baghpat district for the Ladoo Mahotsav celebration when the tragic incident occurred.
00:20Forty people were injured and all of them were taken to the hospital by an ambulance
00:27Police said the wooden stairs of the temporary stage collapsed, causing devotees on the platform
00:41to fall and injuring people nearby.
00:44The Ladoo Mahotsav has been celebrated annually in Baghpat district for more than 30 years.
