00:00The Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court has ordered social media influencer Ivor Lim to pay a

00:06senior lawyer RM150,000 in damages for defaming him.

00:12Judge Yasmin Abdul Razak said Colin Andrew Pereira had proven on a balance of probabilities

00:17that Lim had defamed him.

00:19The judge also ordered an injunction restraining Lim from publishing the defamatory statement

00:24against the plaintiff.

00:26Pereira had sued Lim for posting a video in which she claimed that one of the reasons

00:30why the legal industry in Malaysia is so toxic is because of the senior lawyers.

00:35In her video, Lim also said, but this guy named Colin suddenly woke up and chose violence.

00:41In a statement of claim, Pereira contended that the statements could be taken to mean

00:45that he had contributed to the legal profession being toxic or supported the use of violence.

00:51However, Lim asserted that the phrase woke up and chose violence was the internet slang

00:56and not to be taken literally.
