Chinese President Xi Jinping has visited ordinary Chinese people and joined them in preparing for the Chinese New Year during an inspection trip to the northeastern industrial hub of Liaoning Province from Wednesday to Friday.

00:18people, wishing them happiness and health, and the country peace and prosperity in the
00:23Year of the Snake. The Chinese New Year, or the Spring Festival, which falls on January
00:2929 this year, is the most important holiday on the Chinese calendar and an occasion for
00:34family reunions. On Thursday morning, Xi visited the time-honored Dadong Non-Staple Food Market
00:40in Shenyang, capital city of Liaoning province, to learn about the supplies for the upcoming
00:46Spring Festival. In the community service center, some community residents were writing
00:51Spring Festival couplets and children were making Chinese knots. Xi stood among them,
00:57praised their works, and encouraged them to better inherit and carry forward the excellent
01:02traditional Chinese culture. He said that a happy Spring Festival means a good start
01:07to the new year, calling for concerted efforts to build a better life.
