Terry Cole, licensee of the Royal Oak pub, Wolverhampton speaks about serving the last ever pint of Banks's Mild and how it will affect the community.

00:07It is, it certainly is.

00:08How do you feel about the last pint of Banksy's Mild being poured?

00:11It's a bit upsetting, I mean, you look at it, it's been here, it's been a mainstay

00:15for about 150 years but this, as the Mild as we know it, has been in this pub for over

00:2115, 16 years.

00:22It's unbelievable isn't it?

00:23There's been a lot of pints, it's disgusting.

00:26What do you think it says about the state of the brewing industry around the area?

00:30It's the decline of these sort of beers, I mean, but real ales are still on the up.

00:37They've made the decision above our heads and they've realised that this is not as popular

00:41as it used to be, the old man's Mild.

00:43What do you think that is?

00:44What do you think the reason is?

00:46Culture.

00:47The culture's changed now, people rather go to a gym, they don't want to come in and drink

00:51an old man's pint.

00:53The older generation are dwindling, so I think that's what's happening.

00:58So what do you think the answer is, Terry?

01:00What do you think can be done about it, anything?

01:02Nothing can be done about this now, the decision's been made, unfortunately, which is a sad thing

01:06to see.

01:09But there are other great breweries that are coming about at the moment who are going to

01:13pick up the pillar and carry on running for us.

01:17Well fingers crossed for them anyway.

01:20That's it.

01:21So how much have you got left?

01:22I think we've got two barrels and then we're just waiting now, we'll see how long it'll

01:27last us.

01:28It's like how long is a piece of string.

01:29Obviously it's a bit poppy at the moment, so a lot of people are coming in drinking it,

01:32but I think it'll be gone by at least Sunday and that'll be it then.

01:37You could still be able to get it on Smoothpour, but unfortunately the old cast Mild will no

01:42longer exist.
