Chris, fantastic victory down here in South Wales, not the great start to the game that you'd have
00:06
wanted but you've got the points in the end. Put me back, put 10 years on me that one,
00:10
wow, not the best start, we were terrible, but reaction at half-time I suppose, but
00:18
yeah, we were off of it, we lacked energy, we lacked intent,
00:23
they started off on the front foot and we warned, we talked about it before,
00:32
we knew there'd be a reaction as it is because they've had a couple of bad results, especially
00:35
getting beat in a local derby, they deserve to be up, I was just delighted that we weren't out of
00:40
sight at half-time, so we made some changes and you know, quick turnaround and obviously getting
00:45
that goal straight away was great and I've got to say, I don't know what the moaning and groaning
00:50
is about for me and I'm not saying that he went to do Rhian but it's a red card all day long and
01:00
missed a couple of chances after that, got a penalty and not our best but I think we were,
01:08
as I said, we were fortunate to be in the game at half-time but you know, they didn't take their
01:14
chances, we got ourselves going again and it's a big three points for us.
01:19
Yes, on nights like tonight and when you're up against it in certain ways with the performance,
01:24
that's what good seasons are built on, isn't it?
01:26
Well, you have to dig a bit deep and as I said, we just look really lethargic and passive
01:33
so it wasn't a typical performance from us that we've produced all season
01:39
so yes, we've played a couple of players out of position, we're obviously still
01:46
trying to get the minutes back into Tyreese and Ben's played his first part of it today
01:51
but the introduction of Femi livened us up a little bit and Tyreese coming on the pitch
01:57
gave everybody a lift, gave us a real stretch and we just played a lot more quicker, a lot more
02:03
intense, a lot more purpose, more positivity. Yes, the boy gets sent off and
02:12
it changes the outcome of the game but it's just one of those nights where
02:17
you just have to get the correct result and we've managed to do that.
02:20
Was it like a penalty as well for that decision and nicely tucked away by Harrison?
02:23
Yes, I thought it was. It was a difficult night because there were a few bits and pieces flying
02:31
about and I know everybody will look at the sending off and I suppose the locals will think
02:35
they've been hard done by by the referee's decisions but I thought it was a difficult
02:39
night for him. I thought there was a lot of stuff there which I didn't like. I said some
02:44
poor decisions by us as well when we were in the possession and even with the man
02:52
late on, it wasn't the greatest of services as well. It looked quite heavy and bobbly out there
02:58
and we just had to get through it but you said you saw the team before, we're trying desperately
03:02
hard to bring people into the group. Now we've got Vinny back and we've got Jez back, we've got
03:08
Ben hopefully with minutes under his belt, Tyrese with minutes under his belt as well.
03:12
So on to Friday, I think the recovery since from Sunderland in terms of how we've been
03:22
and stretched to get three wins on the bounce is immense.
03:27
How close is Tom Cannon to being a Sheffield United footballer?
03:30
Well, I've got to say I've focused on, even though it might not have looked, I've done any
03:36
focusing on the team after our first half performance, but I've focused the last 24 hours
03:43
on the team. I know there's work going on away, medical involved as well, I think that's
03:52
common knowledge. So I think we're pretty close to Tom coming into the group as well,
03:56
another one that I didn't talk about. So fingers crossed we'll get the cavalry into
04:01
Holt because there was a lot of tired bodies out there, a lot of weary players that had to
04:09
get through the game. As I said, not an ideal situation in terms of the two midfield players
04:14
with Harrison having to play in there, but his needs must and he did his best.
04:19
And we got through a game by hook or by crook and sometimes that's a skill and that's an ability
04:25
to find a way to win and we found a way to win. But to get players back, to get players more
04:30
minutes and to get players through the door, it's desperately needed as we all understand.
