00:00A KK Mart outlet in University Malaya has been splashed with red paint.

00:06In a statement, the University Malaya Association of New Youth condemned the incident and called

00:12on the university's administration to probe the matter.

00:15UMani President Lim Jing Jet said it was not clear whether the incident was connected with

00:20the recent chicken ham sandwich controversy.

00:23He also said such an extreme action is not an appropriate means of protest against KK

00:30Lim said this act of vandalism could fall under the destruction of property as outlined

00:35in Section 425 of the Penal Code.

00:38Earlier this month, the KK Mart outlet was embroiled in controversy surrounding the

00:42sale of pre-packed chicken ham and cheese sandwiches with allegedly misused halal logos.

00:48The Islamic Development Department has confirmed that the meat used in the sandwiches was certified

00:52halal, but the sandwiches and company were not halal certified.
