00:00An exemption from the Commission on Elections, COMELEC, is still needed to carry guns during this election period.

00:08This was clarified by the National Capital Region Police Office, NCRPO,

00:12and now, four people have been arrested in the region for carrying guns during the Radyo Pilipinas.

00:20NCRPO Chief Police Brigadier General Anthony Averin said that

00:24the permit to carry firearms outside of residence from the PNP is suspended during the election period.

00:31Averin also clarified that only COMELEC has the power to issue a permit to carry a person's gun.

00:39Meanwhile, NCRPO increased the reduction of the Index Crime in NCR from November 23, 2024 to January 15 this year.

00:50This is due to the aggressive surveillance of the police on the streets and in public places.

00:57All the firearms and explosives issued by the office that permit to carry firearms outside residence

01:05are suspended during the election period.

01:09Only COMELEC has the power to issue a Certificate of Authority to carry firearms outside residence.
