00:00A measure seeking a three-year fixed term for the chief of the Philippine Coast Guard or PCG

00:04for more stability has passed the third reading of the Senate. Senate President Francis Jesus

00:10Guterres says that with the challenges the country is facing in the West Philippine Sea,

00:14it would be better to have continuity in the PCG leadership. Under the proposed measure,

00:20the term of office of the PCG Commandant will be fixed to three years. Meanwhile,

00:25Senate Majority Leader Francis Tolentino says that the said measure could not just help

00:30with the term limit, but also in the PCG's strategic modernization program.

00:35The PCG continues to expand its fleet. It will improve its technical capabilities,

00:44enhance its personal training, and have a stable leadership

00:47that modernization efforts aligns with long-term national goals.
