Protesters storm South Korean court following extension of President Yoon's detention

00:00Angry protesters stormed into this courthouse in Seoul late into the night.

00:04Facing off with the police, they chanted the name of impeached South Korean president,

00:09Yoon Suk-yol.

00:10The unrest was triggered after judicial authorities announced he would remain in detention after

00:15handing himself in to police and anti-corruption investigators on Wednesday.

00:20Nearly 90 pro-Yoon protesters were arrested after the incident.

00:25South Korean judges said they were concerned Yoon could destroy evidence linked to his

00:29declaration of martial law in early December, a move ultimately voted down by members of

00:34parliament.

00:36According to his lawyer, Yoon Suk-yol spoke for 40 minutes at his hearing, hoping to restore

00:40his honor.
