This tradition has been going on since our ancient tradition.
00:04
The word Dikshan, where on one hand, after a certain period of time,
00:13
the knowledge that we have attained, or the indication of a stage of nepuniya,
00:19
on the other hand, the knowledge that we have attained,
00:23
to give it a practical form, we can also call it nepuniya or diksha.
00:30
In India, there has been an ancient tradition of gurukul.
00:35
After the students have received their education,
00:39
those who receive their education in the opcharik gurusul vyastha,
00:44
there, opcharik and anopcharik, both types of education were provided.
00:50
And there, there was also a family feeling.
00:54
Our gurus used to say that we have two types of children.
00:59
One is in our family and the other is in our gurukul.
01:03
So, this family feeling, which was a part of our education system,
01:08
is also a part of that tradition.
01:12
The process of education has three important aspects.
01:18
Sravan, manan, nidhidhyasana.
01:22
Sravan means to receive this knowledge through all the senses.
01:30
Manan means the process of thinking about what you have heard.
01:41
And nidhidhyasana means
01:45
the process of bringing the knowledge you have heard into your life.
01:52
This whole process is called education in our society.
01:57
To get a degree, to get knowledge, is not really education.
02:05
This whole process of knowledge has been a tradition in our society.
02:11
And this whole process,
02:16
this process of getting knowledge,
02:21
for self-knowledge, both knowledge and education have been used.
02:26
In this, the whole process of living life is very important.
02:30
Our devotees have also said that this process should continue throughout life.
02:37
In the Indian tradition, after getting a degree,
02:41
Acharya, Guru,
02:43
at the time of Dikshaan, say to the disciples,
02:46
satyam vada dharmam chara swadhyayin maha-pravadah
02:52
meaning,
02:54
after getting a Dikshaan, after getting knowledge,
02:59
we should walk on the path of truth and dharma.
03:03
What does dharma mean?
03:05
Today, this one word has caused a great loss to our country.
03:09
We have made dharma a religion.
03:12
Religion means panch-sampradaya-majap.
03:15
But dharma in our country is considered as a duty.
03:20
We use it in our behaviour.
03:23
If a neighbour helps us, we say thank you.
03:26
He says, why do you say thank you?
03:28
This was my neighbour's dharma.
03:30
So, it was dharma in our country as a duty.
03:34
We have made dharma a religion.
03:38
That is why dharma prevails everywhere.
03:41
So, we should walk on the path of dharma.
03:45
And swadhyayin maha-pravadah means,
03:48
we should continue swadhyayin maha-pravadah.
03:51
This is a stage of Dikshaan,
03:53
after getting knowledge,
03:55
after getting a degree.
03:57
But the process of getting knowledge of education
04:01
should continue throughout our life.
04:04
That is why many of our senior professors say,
04:07
they don't say that I am an economics professor.
04:11
Our Bajranglalji says,
04:13
I am an economics student today.
04:15
He is 85 years old.
04:17
He says, I am an economics student.
04:21
So, this process should continue throughout our life.
04:26
And the fundamental goal of Indian education,
04:30
when Swami Vivekananda was asked,
04:33
what should be the goal of education?
04:35
Swami ji said two words,
04:37
man-making and character building.
04:40
Many great men have said this in their own words.
04:44
Mahatma Gandhi ji had said,
04:47
hand, head and heart.
04:51
Acharya Vidyasagar ji had said,
04:54
excuse me,
04:56
Acharya Vidyanath Mishra ji had said,
04:59
Acharya Vidyanath Mishra ji had said,
