Super Bowl Dreaming?

00:04I will say I have started to allow myself

00:06to just dream a little bit, oh,

00:10about what it would be like if Washington beat Detroit.

00:12I've started to allow myself to consider

00:14just the mere possibility.

00:16And here's what I've come back with.

00:19If the commanders beat the Lions somehow,

00:24I think they're gonna go to the Super Bowl.

00:27And I think they could win the damn thing.

00:30I don't think they're gonna beat the Lions.

00:31I didn't think they'd beat the Bucs.

00:32Now, my not thinking they would beat the Bucs

00:34was like, it's gonna be close and come down to the wire

00:36and Tampa Bay's gonna win, they're a little better.

00:39My they're not gonna beat the Lions

00:40is Detroit's a considerably better complete operation.

00:44But I love this matchup for the offense way more.

00:46And if you told me right now,

00:47their offense lights it up and Jayden bowls out,

00:49I would tell you I expect that.

00:50And if that's the case,

00:51now you're a couple of Jared golf turnovers away

00:53from a win in Detroit, why not?

00:56I'll take my chances.

00:57But if they somehow beat the Lions,

01:00I'm not more scared of Philly than I am Detroit.

01:03I'm certainly not more scared of the Rams in LA,

01:06which is basically a neutral site game

01:07whenever you go out there

01:08cause they don't have a real fan base in those stands.

01:12This is the hardest game I think they play

01:14in the next couple of weeks,

01:15going to Detroit to play the Lions.

01:17If they somehow win this game,

01:19I'm gonna feel really good

01:21going into the NFC championship game

01:22that they have a chance to continue

01:24the magical carpet ride.

01:25Yeah, it doesn't mean that they are guaranteed anything.

01:28You still gotta go through an opponent

01:29that's as battle tested as you and really, really good.

01:31But I see your point.

01:32The look ahead lines, by the way.

01:34So they put these out in advance, right?

01:36Just to look ahead line.

01:37They'd be a six and a half point dog in Philly.

01:40They'd be a two and a half point dog in LA,

01:42which is to say it'd basically be

01:43a neutral side pick them game against the Rams

01:45in the NFC championship game.

01:47That's what we're talking about.

01:48Yeah, sign me right the hell up.

01:49So I guess I think I don't wanna translate,

01:52but this is my takeaway from what you're saying.

01:55The scariest opponent,

01:56the best opponent they have remaining potentially

01:58before they got to the Superbowl is now.

02:00If you get by Detroit,

02:02you're now talking about something that's very real, right?

02:05Like you're in the conference championship game.

02:07And the thing I always used to say for so many years

02:09was DC, and that was before we won all our championships.

02:12Cause you know, DC is kind of a championship town,

02:14sort of what we're known for.

02:15Caps, and then the Nats, and now you're coming-

02:17Now the commanders.

02:18The local 53.

02:19Yeah.

02:20But Washington went the longest of teams

02:22with more than one team in their city

02:25without going to a conference final.

02:26And why did I pick the conference final?

02:27Because once you're there,

02:28you're a doink in a good way or bad way

02:31away from going to a Superbowl and winning the damn thing.

02:34When you're in a final four, you have a legitimate chance.

02:36Before then, it's kind of like, that's nice.

02:38That's adorable.

02:39That's precious.

02:40Then it becomes incredibly real.

02:41And DC had all their teams playing all their seasons

02:44without getting a one, and now it's more routine.

02:46But the point of the dude's story is

02:48once you're in that final four type dance game on,

02:52shuffle them up and deal, you know what I mean?

02:54However it happens, good, bad, and different,

02:56you have a realistic shot.

02:57I'll even go one step further.

02:59Washington would have a better chance

03:01to beat the Chiefs in the Superbowl

03:03than they'll have to beat the Lions on the road,

03:04in my opinion.

03:05A neutral site, corporate atmosphere.

03:08There's no such thing really

03:09as Arrowhead Stadium being loud, right?

03:12There's no home field advantage at that point.

03:14And the Chiefs' offense is not Detroit's.

03:16It's not even close.

03:18The problem for Washington is its defense is terrible.

03:20Yep.

03:21And that's too strong.

03:22Its defense is-

03:23It's not good enough.

03:24And people won't, and haven't really this week acknowledged,

03:28like Baker Mayfield had one of the eight best

03:31statistical quarterback performances

03:33to have ever lost in a playoff game this past week.

03:35It was three incompletions

03:37and a quarterback rating of a buck 50.

03:38Whatever they wanted through the air, they got.

03:40They just didn't have the ball enough

03:42because Washington controlled the clock.

03:44But I would tell you that I would feel better

03:47putting money on a Washington upset win over the Bills

03:51on a neutral site, or the Chiefs on a neutral site,

03:54or even the Ravens, which I don't like that matchup.

03:57We saw it, but they lost by a touchdown in Baltimore

03:59on a neutral site than the Lions in the loudest stadium

04:02in the league this weekend in Detroit.

04:03If you can beat the Lions this weekend,

04:05you can beat anybody.

04:06You can do anything.

04:07So that'll be the last time I do the like, what the?

04:11They just did.

04:12No, no, no.

04:13Now, every game is a toss up.

04:15This thing has just gotten sideways now

04:17in the best way possible.

04:19I call it the magical carpet ride.

04:20Nothing matters anymore.

04:22The horseshoe is in our tuchus,

04:23and we are going forward at 100 miles an hour.
