2013 was the year of the UDF Government.
01:06
In March 2013, the Additional Principal Forest Conservator,
01:13
the Forest Management Bill, was passed.
01:19
That was the starting point.
01:23
In order to enter the forest,
01:28
those who travel through the forest,
01:31
should park their vehicles in the forest,
01:34
and enter the forest.
01:37
This is all blamed by the Forest Conservator.
01:42
These were the initial steps.
01:48
Now, many expectations have been raised
01:52
regarding the suggestions made by the Forest Conservator.
01:57
It should be made clear that the Government
02:02
does not intend to move forward without satisfying such expectations.
02:11
It is the Government's duty to show respect
02:16
to the expectations of the Government
02:20
that the right to be independent in any field
02:25
can be violated.
02:28
The people, especially those who live in the Malayoram area,
02:35
do not abide by any law against their right to be independent.
02:44
The Government's existence is for the benefit of the people.
02:54
It will benefit the well-being of the people.
03:02
Therefore, there is no objection to the extensive conservation
03:07
of nature and the proper maintenance
03:12
of the forest.
03:17
This is the Government's stance regarding the Forest Conservator Bill.
03:25
One thing to note here is that the total area of Kerala
03:30
is 38,863 sq. km.
03:35
Out of that, 11,390 sq. km is forest land.
03:41
1,525 sq. km is forests.
03:52
The total area of Kerala is 860 sq. km.
04:00
In Tamil Nadu, it is 555 sq. km.
04:05
In Karnataka, it is 319 sq. km.
04:09
The total area of our state
04:15
The Government believes that the Government should take into account
04:20
such geographical features and lifestyle
04:24
as well as forest laws.
04:28
The Left has always promoted this stance.
04:34
The people should be protected from the attack of wild animals.
04:41
At the same time,
04:45
forest and forest products should not be exploited illegally.
04:51
Water should not be added to the conservation activities.
04:57
This is the Government's stance.
