00:03A controversial scheme for a new Aldi Superstore has been given the go-ahead by council planners,

00:09despite fears about increased gridlock traffic and air pollution.

00:13Chesterfield Borough Council's Planning Committee approved Aldi's application for the new store

00:18at the former site of Robinson's Caravans on Ringwood Road at Brimmington.

00:22The committee gave the go-ahead after considering residents' concerns about increased traffic on the A619,

00:28the impact on St Michael and All Angels Church, the nearby Brimmington Conservation Area and other neighbouring properties.

00:36Developers have been granted permission to demolish buildings at the former site

00:40and build the new store with access points, car parking and landscaping.

00:44The scheme includes 130 car parking spaces, including 6 easy accessible spaces and 7 parent and child spaces.
