KK Super Mart lodges police report, says will take legal action against sandwich supplier

KK Super Mart has taken legal action against one of its food suppliers after a sandwich produced by the latter was found to have misused a Malaysian halal certificate.  KK Super Mart has also stopped all business dealings with the sandwich supplier, Shake and Bake Cafe Sdn Bhd. 00:00KKSuperMart has filed a police report on Saturday against a food supplier for misusing a Malaysian

00:10halal certificate on one of its sandwiches. KKSuperMart has also ceased all business dealings

00:16with the sandwich supplier, Shake and Bake Cafe Sendirian Berhad.

00:21The company has also instructed its legal team to issue a letter of demand to the supplier

00:26concerning the matter. A ham and cheese sandwich pack labelled with the halal logo was sold

00:32at a KK Concept store in University Malaya had caused an uproar, leading to the closure

00:37of two outlets on the campers' grounds on January 10 after inspections by JAKIM and

00:43the domestic trade ministry. JAKIM and the ministry also raided the supplier's factory

00:48on January 10. In its statement, KKSuperMart said the sandwich supplier Shake and Bake

00:55Cafe Sendirian Berhad had provided a halal certificate for the chicken ham and cheese

01:00layers for reference. Shake and Bake Cafe Sendirian Berhad was also not authorised to

01:06use the KKSuperMart logo on the sandwich packaging. KKSuperMart said they will provide full cooperation

01:13to the authorities in assisting investigation.
