Joe Buck reacts to Newcastle United's 3-1 win over Bromley in the FA Cup Third Round. Goals from Lewis Miley, Anthony Gordon and Will Osula sealed the win for Eddie Howe's side.

00:00So, Newcastle United are through to the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 3-1 win over Bromley

00:05here at St James' Park. Newcastle United fully deserved the win. Bromley, of course, did

00:11give them a couple of scares, we'll get on to that. Without trying to patronise them,

00:14the League 2 team can go home full of pride in their performance. They were really good

00:18for certainly the first 30 minutes or so. But yeah, Newcastle's quality really showed

00:23through at the end. Eddie Howe was forcing them to make a couple of changes at half-time,

00:26probably brought on players he didn't want to bring on. Anthony Gordon and Bruno Guimaraes

00:29came on at half-time, so he certainly recognised at that point that they were far from secure

00:35in the game and they had to make those changes. They worked out in the end, Newcastle survived

00:39hopefully no injuries. It seems to be that way. They've got a fourth round of the FA

00:43Cup job done, there's much they can do. You can only beat what's in front of them, and

00:47they did that. As I said, Bromley did give them a couple of scares. They opened scoring

00:51actually. It was a brilliant strike, to be fair. Lewis Smiley sort of barged off the

00:55ball a little bit, and the Bromley player curled it around Martin Dabravka. There was

01:00nothing much Martin Dabravka could do. He hasn't conceded too many goals since he's

01:03came into the team, but that was a great strike. At that point, the crowd had dipped. Bromley

01:08fans were of course up for it, and they almost probably could have made a two as well just

01:12moments later. Their right-back Imre drove forward and just kept going and going, had

01:17a shot, and that went just right at the post. But after that, Newcastle really decided to

01:22remind themselves that they are the Premier League team, stamp their quality, and they

01:25did that. Lewis Smiley with a fantastic finish. He was probably one of the bright spots for

01:29Newcastle. He picked up the ball after Willa Sulaire went through, it got cleared. Lewis

01:34Smiley picked up the ball at the edge of the area and smashed it home. It was an absolutely

01:38brilliant finish from him. His second ever Newcastle United goal. Of course, his first

01:41game against Fulham in December 2023, so he's waited over a year for that, on what has been

01:45his first start in 10 months. It was good to see him on the score sheet. He had a good

01:51game and Newcastle went into halftime level after that early scare. It wasn't an early

01:55scare, but they weathered it and dominated possession in the first half without really

01:59creating too many chances to go, but didn't have too much to do. They had a lot on the

02:04ball, but Bromley were really resolute at the back. They went into halftime 1-1. Andy

02:09Woodman's side were really pleased with that. But in the moments after halftime, as I mentioned,

02:13Eddie Howe brought Bruno on, he brought Anthony Gordon on. In moments after that, I paid dividends

02:17when Matt Target was fouled in the box. Anthony Gordon stepped up and sand-honed the penalty.

02:21Of course, he missed his last one against Everton, so it was good to see him return

02:25to form from the spot and score that one. That was when Newcastle really took control

02:28of the game. Matt Target, as I said, won the penalty and he was really good on his first

02:32start in over 14 months. He was really good on the left back before being replaced by

02:36Lewis Hull. Overall, there were some good performances across the team. I don't think

02:40anyone necessarily, you'll see Dom's scores, I don't think anyone necessarily got 8 or

02:449 out of 10, but there were some good performances and ones that I'm proud of. Then, the crowning

02:48moment of the day, there was 52,000 in this stadium, 4,000 Bromley fans, so the vast majority

02:55of 50,000 people in here wanted Willa Sula to get to his first goal and he duly delivered

02:59with a brilliant finish. He picked up the ball on the left, drove at the defence, cut

03:02in on his left foot, a little step over, cut in on his left foot and slammed it home. It

03:06was a brilliant finish. Won the rival Miley, maybe even better than Miley's goal. He celebrated

03:13with the crowd, like he did in the pre-season friendly. He scored against Dad Brest, that

03:18was obviously choked off by the Lionsman, by an offside flag. But this was his first

03:22competitive goal and it was a brilliant goal. He had a really good game. I thought he was

03:25energetic, he battled well, he made some very good runs back to help his team and over-cover

03:32the ball. It was a bit of a surprise to see him actually replaced in the final few minutes.

03:39He came off, Anthony Gordon went up front, Trevor Sanussi came on for his competitive

03:43debut for the club, so it was good to see him. I think Sula would have fancied he would

03:46have helped get a couple more, but it was a brilliant goal by him and one that Inigas

03:50will be really pleased with. Inigas will be pleased with him, they need him to stay fit

03:54just in case Alexander Irizar gets injured, Callum Wilson is still on the injury, on the

03:59treatment table when he comes back we're not sure. Eddie Howe's sort of suggested it's

04:03going to be another couple of weeks, but Willa Sula, all he can do is take his chance when

04:07he gets him and he took his chance today. Inigas are going to progress 3-1, the draw

04:11is going to be made by the time this video goes up, I'm sure everyone will know who Inigas

04:14are going to get, but right now Inigas don't know who they're going to get, but they'll

04:17fancy anyone here. If they can get a home draw, no matter who it is, they'll fancy their

04:20chances and they'll go into that draw on the back of eight wins. Of course, the next round

04:24isn't played until the end of January or the beginning of February actually, so they've

04:28got a few weeks before that game is played and they have the Carabao Cup semi-final before

04:31that and a few Premier League games, but they'll go into that draw as one of the former teams

04:34and no-one will want to draw them and that's a really good place for Eddie Howe's side

04:36to be, to be in that draw and they are probably one of the four or five teams that no-one

04:40wants to draw against, so yeah, it's going to be a good, you know, whoever they get,

04:46especially if it's at home, Inigas are going to fancy chances, but all that will do is

04:49get through and they've done that, Bromley had their moments, you know, they looked dangerous

04:52and their fans had a moment to celebrate and of course for the first half they'd held Inigas

04:56up, but the change of the half-time really, and the quality showing through, Inigas are

05:009% winning now, they've got to turn their attentions towards Wolves on Wednesday, that's

05:04not going to be an easy game, you know, Vito Pereira has transformed them, they've enjoyed

05:08a good run under him and they're going to have to try and do it all again, they're going

05:12to have Isak back hopefully, Sven Botman hopefully back, and yeah, but they'll fancy other chances

05:18as they did today, yeah, professional job, as I said before, they need a professional

05:22job, it's not that they did, a couple of nervy moments and maybe it wasn't the most fluid

05:26performance, but you don't expect that when you make so many changes with the team, but

05:29yeah, Inigas tonight through the FA Cup fourth round with a 3-1 win over Bromley.
