00:00Seated amongst us is a lady who works for a company that helps people fly but her feet

00:07are firmly planted on the ground, so much so that while she works for an airline company

00:13she ensures that women in STEM are supported.

00:17Seated amongst us, and this is something that Ms Blair takes delight in, is a lady who is

00:23a formidable banker but also a mentee.

00:28And it is this force of women, irrespective of their age, irrespective of their agency,

00:35who stand here today, Lord Lumba, wanting to contribute and celebrating your journey.

00:43I can only say this, given that I am standing in the shadow of Justice Pratibha Singh, that

00:49somewhere in this room is Secretary Forma and currently somebody who serves as a judge

00:58for Indian industry, Indivar Pandey, to these men and women of law, Lord Lumba, to your

01:05cause would be this, that we in the Women's Collective collaborate with the National Law

01:10University to ensure widows and women who are confronted with such challenges know of

01:19their rights for inheritance because that is the one agency that they are not well informed

01:25about.

01:27And where would this information be transmitted?

01:30We've had, especially in the government of India, the greatest of privileges of supporting

01:36women get justice, and get justice with speed.

01:41And such 700 crisis centers, fast track courts, and also women safe houses, women's working

01:50hostels, all of these institutions will receive this protocol as an advice or as a supporting

01:59document courtesy this partnership between the Lumba Foundation, the CIA Foundation,

02:05under the aegis of the Women's Collective Forum.

02:08I am sure, ladies and gentlemen, all those who have gathered here today will join cause

02:13with what Mr. Munjal said, why stop at helping one, why stop at helping 100,000, when you

02:20can help millions because the cause is just and the time is right.

02:25Congratulations, Lord Lumba, for being who you are.

02:29You are the one example that every Indian mother can give, that from her challenges

02:36and her suffering can rise a child who will contribute so that no other woman who has

02:44undergone the pain that his mother has is challenged and is bereft of solutions.

02:51That is your true tribute to your mother, that is your true tribute to Indian women,

02:56and for that, I thank you.

03:04Thank you, Smriti, for those words, and I agree, why stop at 100,000.

03:15So we're going to look forward to much more than 100,000.

03:19It is now my distinct honor to invite Ms. Sherry Blair, CBE Casey, to address us, a

03:26leading international human rights lawyer, a passionate advocate for women's rights.

03:33Ms. Blair has dedicated her career to creating meaningful change.

03:38A Queen's Council and founder of Matrix Chambers and Omnia Strategy LLP, she has provided strategic

03:47counsel to over 30 countries and numerous multinational organizations, championing justice

03:53and quality on a global scale.

03:57Mrs. Blair's commitment to empowering women is evident in her role as the president of

04:02the Lumba Foundation, and through her own initiative, the Sherry Blair Foundation for

04:07Women, which has positively impacted the lives of more than 250,000 women entrepreneurs in

04:14over 105 countries.

04:16Ladies and gentlemen, please join me in welcoming Ms. Sherry Blair.

04:24Well, what a kind introduction, and what an amazing event this evening.

04:36Can you feel the power in this room?

04:41The power of the men and women in this room who are coming together to do something about

04:47an issue which challenges the idea of justice in the world.
