00:00visited the ICAR complex today and for all the support that you have been giving to the

00:11state of Meghalaya.

00:14Sir, in this time, I would like to take a few minutes and draw your attention to the various

00:26programs that we have done by the state of Meghalaya.

00:34Sir, in the entire state of Meghalaya and in the entire northeast, agriculture, horticulture,

00:44floriculture, fruits, vegetables, for all these things, as our secretary just told you,

00:54the climate, the resources, the soil condition, the availability of water, and the way our

01:08human resources, our farmers, who are involved in farming activities, this ecosystem, this

01:18ecosystem, for the growth of agriculture, for the growth of farming, for the growth of

01:28agriculture, this is absolutely an apt and optimal situation and ecosystem or condition

01:34here in our northeast.

01:36But despite this, we have to face various challenges.

01:42And in the northeast, because of our limitations and challenges, due to which this potential,

01:50and if you see, the northeast can become the vegetable hub of the entire country.

01:58The northeast can become the hub of horticulture or fruits of the entire country.

02:05Northeast India can become the organic hub of the entire country.

02:11Bamboo, bamboo processing and bamboo products can become the hub of the entire country.

02:18Mushroom cultivation and mushroom production can become the hub of the entire country.

02:23For spices, and say different kinds of turmeric, ginger, in all these spices, black pepper,

02:30in all these things, the northeast can become the hub of the entire country.

02:37For health, for honey, the way our farmers are giving attention in the northeast, and

02:45the level at which they are working, there is a lot of potential for honey here.

02:51Sir, I would like to give you a few suggestions, which if we are able to do in the future,

02:58then I think we can bring a lot of change and development from this.

03:05Sir, there is a lot of research being done by ICER today.

03:10In many areas, high productivity, climate resilient, and a lot of research has been done on different varieties,

03:18and this has benefited our people, our farmers a lot.

03:22But, this research, how we were able to bring it to the level of the farmers,

03:31in large scale production, there are some shortcomings in this connection.

03:37Sir, my suggestion would be that state governments, and ICER, and different research institutes,

03:48in every three months or six months,

03:52how we can bring these different developments to the benefit of the farmers,

04:02Sir, this is necessary.

04:04So, in this existing setup, if the talks, coordination,

04:09if the departments, state governments, and ICER,

04:13talk time to time, regularly,

04:15I believe, Sir, that even if we don't invest a lot,

04:20and even if we don't,

04:22we will be able to get a lot of additional benefits and potential from this.

04:29I just spoke to the Secretary and the Director of ICER.

04:34And in this matter, Sir, we at Meghalaya will try our best

04:39that every three months, or at least once every six months,

04:44this can be a large scale meeting,

04:47where we can work together in different areas.
