00:00You have been associated with the first edition as well, as we hear.

00:16You have seen the changes the Pravasi Bharti is making, your thoughts regarding it and

00:21also on the present Pravasi Bharti.

00:25I think there has been a transformation, both all over the world and certainly in India.

00:33And it is through digital transformation that we have seen the Pravasi Bharti Devasis becoming

00:40more and more popular.

00:42And you have a larger collectivity of people from all over the world attending this conference.

00:47This is conceived, as you mentioned, the first Pravasi day was much smaller in scale.

00:55It was the beginning of conceiving how we can connect with the Bharatiyas outside India.

01:02And then today we see there is a much more strong connection between Indians outside

01:09India and with the Indians here is happening, both at governmental level, institutional

01:16level and at the grassroot level of the people to people.

01:21When they come, we interact with them in a social way and they connect with us at the

01:29family way in course of time.

01:31So for instance, my connectivity, I have got so many Pravasis outside India, right from

01:40the Caribbean to Fiji to almost all parts of the globe, wherever Indians have moved,

01:47I have my friends, etc.

01:51And I also promote these studies through my teaching and through my students in this first

01:58center for the study of Indian diaspora started at the University of Hyderabad way back in

02:031996 itself, even before the Pravasi day was conceived.

02:08And we have been associated with it and we try to promote it for the global level.

02:14You also heard Prime Minister Modi speak up.

02:18What is your take away from his speech?

02:20I think this time his specific emphasis has been to connect much more intensely with India

02:28and the emphasis that we will have India's tradition extended to the tradition of the

02:37Pravasis is one of the most outstanding points which he has made.

02:43That in India's tradition, we will also be continuing here on talking about Pravasis

02:50because in none of our textbooks, there have been any mention about Pravasis so far, except

02:57a few scholars who write about the Pravasis, but there is nothing promoting at the traditional

03:02level either from the schools or colleges or anywhere.

03:06Now on, he says, our Pravasis will also be part of India's traditions.

03:15So this part of the history was totally ignored by the British because for them it was not

03:21interesting because it was something which is a black deed of British empire, you know,

03:26taking Indians, making them to work there and making them slaves there.

03:31Indians replaced the slaves, blacks, and in their barracks, Indians had gone there

03:37and worked hard and the empire was built through their blood.

03:43So today we will be writing those histories and that will be history of India, that will

03:48be tradition of India which will be promoted to the rest of the world.

04:01Sir, Prithviraj Chauhan's first statement, now his tweet has come out, he is saying that

04:19my statement was taken out of context and now all the parties are in line and Congress

04:26will be proven victorious.

04:28Sir, he has given clarification, let him give clarification.

04:34What I want to say is that whatever you have said, first prove that AAP was a good party.

04:40Now what is wrong in that?

04:42If our senior leaders, knowingly or unknowingly, say something like this, then either they

04:47explain it to us or they themselves go to AAP.

04:51So when a senior leader can say something so irresponsible, then what can I say about

04:57that?
