Animal Rights Activists in Shrewsbury

00:00We're here today in Shrewsbury for Veganuary to remind locals that all birds deserve protection
00:06from abuse and when it comes to their capacity to suffer and feel pain, really a chicken is
00:11no different from a kingfisher, a crow or a swan. So a lot of people don't realise that Shropshire
00:17actually is home to the densest concentration of industrial poultry units in the whole of the
00:22Europe and they're still giving planning permission for even more to be built. So over 20 million
00:27chickens being industrially reared at any one time and you know a lot of people wouldn't even
00:33dream of having a crow burger or a swan burger for dinner but at the same time all of these
00:39chickens are living in filthy sheds and sent to the slaughterhouse where they're killed. So
00:44this pollution that's unfortunately you know ruining the rivers, it's destroying wildlife
00:49which many people are rightfully so upset about, we want them to extend that compassion and save
00:54these animals as these birds as well as the chickens by going vegan and people can go to
00:59peta.org.uk to get a free vegan starter kit and go vegan today.
