00:00Okay, I mean, we could be some months away from the next election. I mean, it's unlikely

00:05to happen before May, but I gather it has to happen by October. I mean, as things stand,

00:11obviously, as you've been saying, the Liberals face a resounding defeat, but assuming they

00:17replace Trudeau with the right person, that's not guaranteed, is it?

00:22No, no, no. I think that they're having a leadership race now. They're starting it over

00:28the next five or six weeks. There are a number of contenders. Some of them are outsiders.

00:34Nothing is certain or guaranteed ever in politics, and election campaigns are uncertain by definition,

00:40and anything can happen at any time. So as things stand right now, if there was an election

00:46called today, the Conservatives would wipe out the Liberals, and they would be the ones

00:50negotiating with Donald Trump. And it's also possible that Trump holds off on the tariff

00:55threat and wants to wait until there's an election in Canada and then negotiates with

01:00the new Canadian government. But it's quite possible after the six-week, seven-week leadership

01:05race, there's a new Liberal leader, there's a new prime minister, and they're able to

01:09put forward a different, unique, and fresh vision, and that the party doesn't get wiped

01:14out. That would be my hope and the hope of many Liberals in this country, but we have

01:19to wait and see what's going to happen.
