So, Rich, looking at Manchester City and obviously just reviewing their performance against West
00:07
Ham, 4-1 at home, Harlan backing the goals, Foden as well getting on the score sheet.
00:14
I mean, it's sort of a bit of a Pep Guardiola result, isn't it, that we've come to expect
00:18
from the last two seasons, how sort of any team can go there and just come away and can
00:24
be battered on the day. Obviously, West Ham not in the best of form and Jadon Opetegui
00:29
hasn't really got much going for him at the moment there, but a real Man City result.
00:35
Harlan, man of the match, he's backing the goals and FPL managers I'm sure will be looking
00:40
to maybe even question getting him back in. He has still got a number of goals for Manchester
00:45
City this season. Not to say are they back, but it looks as if they are going to really
00:51
go on a run and maybe take some positives from this game. They've got some fairly decent
00:58
fixtures coming up, maybe PSG, Chelsea's the next time you look, which is obviously
01:02
the end of the month, but a few fixtures that they can focus on and maybe get back to that
01:07
best. It's a bit of leeway before that, clearly the Champions League is going to be their
01:12
high priority this season.
01:14
Yes, it's a really fascinating run of games coming up. I think there's obviously got to
01:19
take positives because there haven't been a lot of positives lately for City and the
01:22
fact that they did return to what was a rather straightforward win has to be seen as a sign
01:27
as a step in the right direction. Pep Guardiola did warn after the game that, look, this doesn't
01:32
mean that the season has been a turning point, doesn't mean everything's suddenly going to
01:36
be fixed. There are clearly some fundamental issues that the Etihad that just haven't been
01:40
addressed so far and they continue to not be and that win doesn't solve those root causes.
01:47
Salford's at home in the FA Cup this weekend. You sense that's another chance to grow in
01:51
confidence. The argument is always, why don't you just play the kids, make wholesale changes?
01:55
I do think City will make a lot of changes this weekend, but it probably is a chance
01:59
to get further confidence and more goals in some of these players who have been underperforming
02:03
and who have just not clicked so far this season. But what is so fascinating is that
02:09
run of games. Brentford away coming up as well in midweek. That is going to be so, so
02:15
tough because we've seen how good Brentford can be this season. Then they've got Ipswich
02:19
away as well, which looks like it should be pretty straightforward, but Ipswich are now
02:24
one of the informed teams in the league over the last couple of games. You've obviously
02:28
got Liam De Lappe. That's the story in itself, isn't it? The guy that City have sold. They've
02:31
got a buyback on him. He looks like one of the players who'd be a breakout in Premier
02:35
League this season. PSG away in the Champions League. I mean, PSG have been as bad as City
02:40
in Europe this season, but both of them know that one win can alter their campaign and
02:44
due to the new format can get them effectively qualification to the next round. Then it's
02:49
Chelsea at home. Cole Palmer returning to the Etihad again. You'd expect them to beat
02:53
Club Bruges. And then there's the run of games that looks tougher and tougher every
02:59
time you look at it towards February. Arsenal away, Newcastle at home, Liverpool at home,
03:05
Tottenham away, who always have this jinx over City, and then Forrest away at the very
03:10
start of March. And is there any team you'd back to win all those games in the Premier
03:15
League right now? No. Would you back the City team? Not at all. So my word of warning would
03:20
be don't get carried away just yet on Man City.
