Premier League final day preview as Manchester City need to win for fourth title on the bounce

00:00Michael, moving on to Manchester City now, obviously, like a couple of seasons ago, the

00:05final day will decide the title winner. If Manchester City are to do it, there will be

00:11four in a row, which is quite remarkable. What would that achievement sort of mean and

00:17what are the thoughts going into this final day?

00:21Well, it is a huge achievement. Any side in the history of English football have never

00:27achieved that, be that Charles Ferguson's great sides, Arsene Wenger's teams, the great

00:35Liverpool teams of the 80s, Matt Busby. You go back to the Arsenal teams as well in the

00:40kind of the 30s and none of them have managed to win four titles in a row. Quite a few teams

00:46have won three, but never a fourth. And it would speak, I think, to the consistency of

00:50Manchester City, the ruthlessness of their play. They're just so clinical when they get

00:56into these latter stages of the season. And, listen, Guardiola, it would put him, it would

01:02elevate him to another level, I think, in the history of English football managers in

01:06England. And it would just be an incredible achievement. And, you know, I was thinking

01:10about this, I was doing the maths, you've got 152 games you would have to play over

01:16four Premier League seasons. And Manchester City have played 151 of those 152 games and

01:21they are now one game away from that achievement. Now, it still could slip away from them because

01:26obviously if they lose in the final day to West Ham and Arsenal win, then Arsenal are

01:30champions. But I'd be very, very surprised if that happens. I just think City, the way

01:34they're playing at the moment, I think they showed a little bit of nerves against Spurs,

01:37but that probably is the first time that they've kind of blinked a little bit. I say blinked,

01:41they still won 2-0, didn't they? I mean, even that sums them up, really. But I don't expect

01:46them to have any nerves going into the final day against West Ham, a side who have nothing

01:49to play for, who are not in good form. And I just think it's going to be a pretty straightforward

01:57affair, really. West Ham have a terrible record for City. David Moyes has a terrible record

02:02against City. He's lost his last seven games as a manager at the Etihad. You have to go

02:07back to his time as a manager for the last time, he got a win there. You know, I'd be

02:11really, really surprised if it's anything other than a City win. And of course, as we

02:17know in the history of the Premier League, I think I said eight times previously, no,

02:22nine times previously, that it's gone to the final day of the season. The side who start

02:26the day at the top of the table every single time so far have gone on to win the title.

02:30I suspect that's going to go up to 10. I'd just be amazed if West Ham can offer enough.

02:33But yeah, we'll be there anyway to see if we can get any drama, but I really don't think

02:38so.
