00:09a year on bills by making a few changes to the way they use their energy. Many of these
00:14changes could also make a positive impact on the environment by reducing a household's
00:19carbon emissions. So what can you do? In an article by the National Grid, it's recommended
00:24to adjust your combi boiler flow temperature to 60 degrees or below. In doing so, this
00:30can knock money off your heating bills as well as reducing energy waste from your home.
00:35Next, try heating the right places at the right times. For example, make sure your radiators
00:41aren't covered or blocked by furniture so heat can flow more freely through the room.
00:46Maybe try and set a timer on your central heating in order to make sure your property
00:51is only heated when it needs to be. Now time to talk hot water. Reducing your shower time
00:57to 4 minutes could reportedly save a typical household around £60 a year on energy bills.
01:03And when it comes to the kitchen, around 4% of the typical energy bill is thought to be
01:08spent on powering kitchen appliances, including the kettle, hob and oven. By not overfilling
01:14the kettle, you could save around £10 a year on your electricity bill. Other tips on how
01:19to save money on your energy bills includes running the dishwasher one less time a week.
01:26Reducing your dishwasher use by one run a week could save around £12 a year. Another
01:31tip is to draft proof your windows and doors. Doing so can save you around £80 a year on
01:37heating bills. You can do this by professionally draft proofing or just by closing your curtains
01:43in order to keep warmth in. Another tip advises to even try maximising your oven usage
01:49if possible. It can be handy to cook multiple things in one session and this can help with
01:54meal planning for the week too.
