Leeds snow fun and disruption

Here are some snowy scenes from Leeds and Otley as schools, travel and birds from Lotherton Estate have all been impacted.

00:15venture out. An amber weather warning was in place for snow and ice, with yellow warnings

00:20continuing into Monday.

00:32Sledgers headed to Roundhay Park on Sunday, with hundreds hurling themselves down the

00:36slopes. On Monday, dozens of schools were shut across Leeds, with some opting to open

00:42later in the day. Flights to and from Leeds Bradford Airport suffered delays due to issues

00:48throughout the initial snowfall on Sunday.

01:04The landmarks of Leeds City Centre were covered in snow on Sunday, although the snow had largely

01:09disappeared by Monday morning.

01:19The Lotherton Estate in Aberford has launched an urgent appeal due to damage caused by the

01:25snow to their penguin aviary. Their Inca terns, who live with the penguins, have escaped,

01:31and anyone who spots them is being urged to contact Lotherton immediately.

01:39As things stand, there are no further weather warnings for Leeds and the surrounding area,

01:43with the remaining snow and ice set to melt away. Temperatures are set to hover around

01:48freezing though through to the weekend, but there are some sunny spells expected throughout

01:53the week, so it won't be too gloomy for too long.
