Joey P, walk us through something going on with the rookies this season.
00:04
Yeah, look, rookie teammates typically don't have big seasons together. Usually one or the other
00:11
typically succeed, and certainly not very often do they succeed in one of the worst
00:15
offenses in the NFL. But yet somehow, the New York Giants rookie tandem has
00:21
been able to be incredibly productive in 2024. So rookie teammates have a thousand yards from
00:26
scrimmage in the same season. Tyrone Tracy and Malik Neighbors are on this list now.
00:31
So congratulations to them. Tracy came on strong, supplanted Devin Singletary. Malik Neighbors,
00:39
one of the top picks in the draft. Everybody knew he was going to be special. Spent most of the year
00:42
with Daniel Jones and then a little Drew Locke, a little Tommy DeVito. How you doing? And the only
00:48
other guys on this list, Abner Hayes and Johnny Robinson from Matt's youth in 1960. And then
00:53
Reggie Bush and Marquez Colston in 2006. So really, it's not something you see very often,
00:59
especially on teams that are bad. You know, those Saints teams there, that was what Drew
01:03
Brees playing quarterback were. Sure, of course, Drew Brees can find a way to make more than one
01:07
guy very successful, but it's a shout out to Tyrone Tracy, Malik Neighbors, and also Bears
01:12
questioning, okay, how bad are the Giants next year? If they do get a quarterback, if they bring
01:18
in a veteran, or if they somehow end up at the top of the draft again, or trade up to the top of
01:24
the draft to get their young quarterback, what do the Giants look like next year? Do they get rid of
01:28
Joe Shane? Do they get rid of Ryan Dabble? Do they just stay the course? The Giants have been known
01:32
for stability. They don't like to hire people and fire people. It's not really been their MO.
01:38
Sometimes they wait a little too long to make those decisions. But if you look at, you know,
01:41
since the Bill Parcells era, you know, you had some, a little bit of Ray Handley in between,
01:46
but then you had, you know, some really good years with Tom Coughlin, and they've cycled through,
01:50
and it's been hard since Coughlin's been gone to really find what they've been looking for.
01:55
And Brian Dabble, I think, is a good football coach. I think their, their situation was they
02:00
got caught in a division here where the commanders got their guy, they popped off.
02:06
Defensively, they have some pieces here too. They, they assembled a pretty decent roster.
02:10
The problem was they spent too much on a quarterback that was not going to be able
02:14
to help them. And it's unfortunate because that's basically the missing piece here.
02:18
You just have to wonder, will those guys be there next year to fill in that puzzle?
02:24
Joe, all season long, you've been really good at distinguishing which type of props and why,
02:28
and when it comes to position players. So when we look at the wide receivers, sometimes we're
02:31
going for reception, sometimes we're going for targets, sometimes we're going for overall yardage.
02:35
The long catch is really showing up this season, and betters are really starting to notice it.
02:40
So let's look at the most catches of 20 or more yards this season. And some of the names,
02:46
you know, I would expect, but then there are some others where I go, wow.
02:51
Yeah, really, it's, you're not surprised to see Justin Jefferson or Jamar Chase on this list,
02:55
right? 27 for Jefferson, 20 I think now for Jamar Chase from last night. So 20 yards or more,
03:02
those are those big plays, those chunk yards that really make a big difference in a lot of
03:06
these games. A guy that we were very high on coming into the season as a secondary wide
03:10
receiver in Atlanta was Darnell Mooney, who was actually at the number two spot overall with 21
03:15
of these. So usually you're getting plus money on these where you're going over 20 yards,
03:19
over 18 and a half longest catch. It's a really fun prop to bet, and it was to get to the playoffs,
03:24
it's another opportunity. And today there's opportunity for this as well, because you have
03:28
a good matchup here for the offense. Michael Penix throws a really good deep ball. So you are in a
03:32
spot here at Darnell Mooney where, yeah, I would bet this today. And Darnell Mooney has been a guy
03:38
who was undrafted in a lot of leagues, especially 10-person leagues, that was somebody that really
03:44
has contributed most of the year, basically from week two on. And it's unfortunate that the Atlanta
03:50
Falcons had to wait too long. I think the schedule really put them in a bad spot because, you know,
03:55
you wanted to give Kirk Cousins that bye, see if he can get better. And then after that bye,
03:59
you had Minnesota right after, and you weren't going to take that game away from him.
04:02
And I don't think you wanted to throw Michael Penix to the Wolves in that
04:06
Vikings defense that week either. So they really just got caught in a bad spot with the schedule
04:12
where they couldn't make that pivot, I think, in the timing they wanted to. And unfortunately,
04:17
you know, lesson learned. But now they have their quarterback of the future, and certainly they'll
04:21
have some more money to spend, hopefully, on that defense next year. Because the offense has plenty
04:26
of weapons, the defense needs to get shorn up, and obviously the quarterback play, you need to
04:30
stop turning the ball over. Hopefully, Michael Penix can do that. But just wanted to point out,
04:33
Darnell Mooney, been a big playmaker for the Falcons and for fantasy teams all year.
